Prerna Nigam, a native of Subhash agar under Civil Line police station area in Meerut, is a fashion and lifestyle blogger and entrepreneur. He has 67 thousand followers on Instagram. According to Prerna, on August 20, an email came in for a professional collaboration. A link was given in it. His Instagram account was hacked as soon as he clicked on the link. The hacker gave his account profile name and other information in Russian language. Changed the username as well.
After this, his Instar account on Prerana's mobile stopped. Hackers sent emails to them threatening to delete the entire data if not repaired within two hours. When Prerana replied, the hacker asked her for $ 260 in bitcoins. Seeing this happening, Prerna sought help from Facebook, Instagram, police and private cyber experts. Currently living in Enclave of Malviya Nagar area of Delhi, Prerna has filed a complaint on the cybercrime portal of the Home Ministry.
Help was sought on Twitter
Prerna Nigam said, she put an open post on Twitter to help. One person asked for $ 90 in the name of helping them. When Prerna asked to show her passport after looking at the new account, the person did not respond. Probably the said person was related to a hacker or thug who wanted to collect money in the name of help.
Account re-set as such
On her email, Instagram sent her a security code, Prerna Nigam said. He wrote this code on paper. Took a photo of him with code paper and sent it back to Instagram. Instagram matched this photo to Prerna Nigam's account. After everything was verified, Instagram sent a link to the email again. Through this link, she was able to reset the Instagram account. According to the information, the hacker had also put Prerna's account password on the dark web.
