Virus Attack
Yesterday my friend told me an incident that shocked me, his chicken farm suffered a viral attack and caused all the chickens he kept to die.
I am very sad to hear that, I hope he is strong enough to accept the disaster he has experienced. Virus attacks can occur at any time. Chickens that are infected with the virus can be seen from the color of the chicken's comb which turns purplish and the feces are green.
Actions that can prevent chickens from contracting the virus are cleaning the cage, spraying the chicken coop with disinfectant, and always giving antibiotics to increase body resistance every 2 weeks.
Prevention is better than cure, always discipline in keeping the chickens healthy is part of the fun in raising chickens.
Merawang Chicks Arrive
A few days ago I bought Merawang chicks from a friend of mine, whose house is very far away and has to take a train for delivery.
And now these chicks are in my chicken coop, they look very adorable and I hope these chickens can grow well and multiply in my chicken coop.
One of the advantages of these chickens is that they have good growth and can produce lots of eggs. Their golden feather color makes them look like ornamental chickens and fits my criteria very well.
Cross Chicken
This is a breed of chicken that is crossed between a broiler and a layer chicken, producing a thick meat breed and fast growth. I have always liked this type of chicken for collection only.
I'm currently waiting for a chicken shipment from a friend, which was sent via train because I have to travel a long way. Maybe tomorrow it will arrive at my place.
After several times raising many types of chickens, I will keep only one type of chicken because of the limitations of the chicken coop and also the cost.
That's why I chose the Merawang chicken breed, which grows fast and pure (never been crossed with other types of chicken) and lays lots of eggs. I hope my dream this year will come true.
Signs of Chicken Disease

Chicken breeders must be creative and innovative to process chicken feed ingredients so they don't spend too much money. Of course, it doesn't reduce the nutritional value of chicken feed.
Chickens stay healthy and nutritional intake is still met.
Golden Chicken
I named this chicken Pretty, because she has a very beautiful golden feather color. She is very shy when I want to hug her.
This type of chicken is a native chicken that has very fast growth, according to chicken experts, the origin of this chicken comes from a miner from China during the colonial era who came to Indonesia with this chicken.
And settled in the islands of Bangka Belitung, Merawang which is one of the provinces in Indonesia, then breed there.
And at that time the locals named the chicken china because they did not know the name and the one who brought this chicken was indeed a Chinese person, then the local government patented the name to Ayam Merawang.
And until now, many Chinese people in Bangka Belitung use this chicken for religious rituals.

Today my chicks hatched again. And I've moved them to the warm coop and the food is ready.

This is where the chicken breeders are tested, the mortality rate of chicks is very high if we take care of them wrong. But I only use my feelings and experiences to keep the chicks alive.

Playing in the Backyard
The dry season has begun, the hot and sunny weather has stabilized lately, it's time to release the chickens to play in the backyard.
