Laziness or what is now more often referred to as lazy movement, is a problem that is often experienced by many people. Even though it's trivial, laziness can hinder the activities you do and make you get used to laziness if you don't try to fight it.

Usually, laziness arises because there is no motivation that can make someone move or do something. However, researchers say that this lack of motivation is more influenced by biological factors, not just attitudes and habits.

~Why does laziness appear in our brains?

According to information obtained through Live Science, researchers have performed magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans to examine motivation and laziness.

The scans showed that when people decide to do something, their pre-motor cortex tends to fire just before other points in the brain that control movement become active.

But in lazy people, this pre-motor cortex does not turn on because the connection is lost. Researchers suspect that the brain connections linking "decision to do something" to actual action are less effective in lazy people. As a result, their brains have to put in a harder effort to turn the decisions they make into concrete actions.

A study published in the journal Cerebral Cortex in 2012 found that dopamine levels in the brain can also have an impact on a person's motivation to do something.

Dopamine levels will have different effects in different areas of the brain. Researchers found that hard workers had the most dopamine in two brain areas that play important roles in reward and motivation, but have low dopamine levels in the anterior insula, a region associated with decreased motivation and perception.

~Tips to fight laziness.

Laziness certainly should not be allowed, because the more lazy you are, the more activities you will miss. Laziness can also make your productivity decrease. Therefore, here are some tips to fight laziness :

1. Remember your "why".

Laziness is usually caused by a lack of motivation to do something. Losing the "why" or reason you do something can make you lose your way. So, if you start to feel lazy, try asking yourself "why" or "why".

For example, "Why do I have to finish school or college assignments immediately?", "Why do I have to finish my thesis as soon as possible?", "Why do I have to study this?", "Why did I choose this place as my place of work?", and other.

2. Ask what's wrong.

Sometimes, laziness comes when you feel like you're not doing something you love. If you're feeling lazy, then try asking yourself, "Is this what I want?" or, "What do I really want to do?" Try asking yourself to know what you are lacking, and listen to your heart.

3. What should I do?

If you already know what went wrong and what your "why" is, you should know what to do by now. Do it! If you already know what your "why" is, then do it with confidence and passion. If you already know what went wrong, then fix it.

Small changes you make will open other avenues that can lead you to positive changes in life; including changes such as tidying up the room, eating a healthy diet, and exercising which can often increase your enthusiasm for activities. So, get ready and make a change, because a bright future awaits you.
