The plains of jars are still from an unknown origin to this day. There are about 90 sites known today ranging from 1 to up to 400 hundred jars. They are hewn from rock and are between 1 and 3 meters in width and height. Only one was decorated.

What is special about them is that we know nothing for sure about the people who made them as well as the time or their use. They have been connected to some people of China and are thought to date back to 500 BC–200 CE. It is believed they were part of burial rituals.
