Located at the heart of the city of Rome, the Roman Forum is a a rectangular plaza surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings and filled with interesting history. At the height of the Empire glory, the site was the venue for public speeches, criminal trials, and gladiatorial matches as well as the commercial hub. In later time, the site was the perfect spot for many artists and architects studying in Rome to sketch during the 17th through the 19th century. In an extraordinary example of being in the wrong place at the right time, a Greek farmer just made a startling archaeological discovery.
A 3,400-year-old Minoan tomb has been uncovered in an unnamed farmer’s olive grove near the city of Ierapetra on the Greek island of Crete. According to Cretapost, the farmer was attempting to park his car underneath an olive tree when suddenly the ground beneath him began to sink.
The farmer pulled his car out from under the tree and noticed that a huge hole which measured around four feet wide had opened up where his car had been sitting. When he peeked into the hole, the farmer knew he had stumbled upon something special.

Ancient Hellenic About Epirus.
`ANCIENT HELLENIC SOURCES ABOUT EPIRUS..!!`
The earliest sources about Epirus come from Herodotus and later by Thucydide 's weighty ones. The latter draws a clear line between the Greeks (Ambrakas, Anaktoras and Leukadas) and barbarians (Koons, Thesprots, Molos, Atintans, etc, while writing about the Peloponesian war and warriors that took part in it.
His acknowledgment that "the Greek-speaking inhabitants of Argos of Amfilohya have learnt the language from those who came to Ambrakas, whereas the other Amfilohya are barbarians:' (Thucydides II, 68).
Later, Ephorus speaks of a clearer ethnic boundary between the Greek and the barbarian world when he says that "Hellada starts with Akarnania for it first comes into contact with the Epirote tribes'" (Apud. Strab. VIII, 1,3,6, 334). We find the same idea in Scylaks when he says that "beyond Molossia comes Ambrakia, a Greek city and that "it is here that (the boundary of) Hellada starts and continues up to the Peneus river and the city of Magnezia, Homolios, that is on this river.'''' (Scyl. 33). So, if Thucydides information draws a clear-cut line between Greeks and barbarians, Ephorus and Scylaks make a clearer definition of the purely ethnic Greek world.
The fact that the "barbarians" of this region did not speak Greek proves clearly that they were not Greeks because language constitutes the main ethnic indicator of a population. The presence of Greek colonies around Ambrakia bay and along the Ionian coast as far as Corkyra is another proof of the existing ethnic situation in the region and the new one that was created in the region soon after VIII th Century B. C. However, their emergence did not change the ethnic character of the native population despite the powerful economic and cultural impact of these settlements in the barbarian world.
The native population remained non-Greek as it was before, as Polybius confirms centuries later, when he quotes Philip V of Macedonia saying that "even among the Aetols there is a great number that are not Hellenes " and that "the Agreys, Apods and the Amfylohys do not belong to Helada " (Polib. XVIII 5,8). After the middle of IV century B. C, the region between Ambrakia bay, the Keraune mountains and Pindus range will be mentioned as Epyrus "and its habitants "Epirots" in all literary sources.
The names that were born after the union of Moloses, Thesprots, Kaons and smaller tribes into a great political entity never became an expression of an ethnic entity. Seemingly, they were created by way of compromise to soothe the old hegemonic rivalries between the large tribes of this region. To its north, this entity borders with the Illyrian world. If literary sources bring full evidence that the population of this region was not Greek, they keep silent about the ethnic links with their northern neighbours. Meanwhile, such literary sources do not mention the presence of a third ethnic group either, one that had settled in the areas between the Greeks and the Ilyrians.
It is well-known that these two great people of the Balkans had already settled definitely in the western and southern part of t he peninsula and had direct contacts as neighbours with each other at the beginning of the last millenium B.C. Both Herodotus and Scylaks as well as two other great Greek historians Thucydides and Ephorus set the ethnic border for the Greek world from Ambrakia bay and Pineiós river. Therefore, beyond that river to the north, the populations described as barbarians and not Hellenophone could belong to none other but the Illyrian trunk. The contact zone between these two worlds has been undoubtedly characterized by an inter-ethnic interference that is universally normal but this does not change the general ethnic framework.

However, traces of a human settlement in the Bronze Age have been found in the vicinity of today's inhabited area. The walls belong to the 4th century BC . Known as Antipatrea, but not all historians and archaeologists agree . It was captured by Romans in the 2nd century BC. Titus Livy, a famous Roman historian described it as a strong big town, settled in a narrow rocky strip of land. He noted the cruelty of the Roman legions who "killed all people over sixteen years of age, destroying the outer walls and setting the town ablaze". The Romans called the city Albanorum Oppidum (Albanian Fortress). #noisecash
During the Byzantine period in the 5th century A.D., the city was known as Pulcheriopolis (from Pulheria) after the name of the sister of the Byzantine Emperor Theodosius who took the town. The name Pulheria, meaning "beautiful, wealthy, and strong" was a reflection of the city's importance. BOX BED in Austria.
A box bed, also known as a closed bed, is an old-fashioned type of bed that looks like a closet. It appeared in the Middle Ages and was common in northern and central Europe until the 19th century.
The box bed was closed on all four sides by wooden walls like a drawer. They were entered by drawing aside some curtains, opening a hinged door or a sliding door. The bed could be freestanding and have short legs, to avoid moisture from the floor, or be built into a hole in the wall. #photography
A large oak arch, the same length as the bed, was often placed in front of the box bed. This was always a "seat of honour", and also served to climb into bed. It was also used to store clothes, underwear and bedding. #noisecash #randomthoughts

World Discoverer is a seven-deck ice class 1A small cruise ship for cruising in the polar regions, among island-dotted archipelagos and at the mouths of large rivers. The ship was put into operation in 1975 and was one of the first to deliver tourists to Antarctica, which was possible due to the special double hull design. #noisecash
On April 30, 2000, north of Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands, the World Discoverer cruise ship hit a previously uncharted reef and ripped open its starboard side. #photography

🔵Roman baths, used for both socializing and cleaning, were a marvel of engineering. The water was heated by the fire lit under the pool and the hot air was circulated between the walls of the bath; so that both the water temperature and the temperature of the building would remain constant. The water used in the Roman baths was generally carried from the water source to the bath with the help of aqueducts.
The dirty water coming out of the baths had a function. These dirty waters were drained from the canal and used to clean the dirty canals of the latrinas (Public Toilet) next to the baths. #randomthoughts
They would go every day and stay for a few hours. The wealthy Romans used to come with their slaves. The slaves brought in usually took on the task of carrying towels and drinks. Before bathing in Roman baths, sports exercises were done. Running, weight lifting and wrestling are examples of these. After the exercises, the servants would smear their masters with oil and then scrape off the oil with the help of a board or bone. In this way, great dirt would be removed.
In the Roman bath, body cleaning was done with an apparatus called strigilis. With this apparatus, sweat, sand and dust sticking to the body were removed, and then the body was lubricated in the area called aleipterion.Roman baths were also present inside various palaces or castles. #history
Since the limits of socialization were exceeded in some baths and there were incidents such as prostitution, it was decided that women would enter the bath from morning to noon and men would enter the bath in the afternoon. So they were prevented from entering to baths together.

Legend of Rozafat Castle
The legend of the Rozafat castle
Proudly rises above the wide Buna and above the city of Shkodra the ancient castle of Rozafat.
When was the first stone laid in the foundations of this castle? It is not known. Its history is lost in the fog of Illyrian antiquity, the ancient inhabitants of this morning. One thing is well known; it was once owned by the Labeates and then the Ardians, who were strong Illyrian tribes. At that time the whole further Adriatic coast, up to the sensational Tergesten or Trieste of our days, was an Illyrian coast. Later the Romans then poured out the Slavs, the Normans, the Venetians the Turks and many other foreign peoples.
Over the centuries those dry creeks beneath the walls of Rozafat, as well as the castle walls themselves, have been drenched in streams of blood from those who attacked and defended it. Foreigners came and went and our people remained stuck in this Illyrian land. The construction of Rozafat has a beautiful but also bitter folklore that has come from antiquity to the present day.
Here is what this legend says:
The fog fell on Buna and covered it all. This fog remained there for three days and three nights. After three days and three nights a gentle breeze blew and lifted the fog. He lifted him up and led him to the hill of Valdanuz. Three brothers worked on the top of the hill. They were building a castle.
