Hello, I have a lot to share here about juice and story as well. In this article I will say what fruits and vegetables can not be juice.
Fruits and Vegetables are not created equal. Some are top picks for making juices like oranges, apples, and carrots, to mention a few. They are watery and sweet-tasting, they even make great juice bases both for fruits and vegetables.
Some fruits and vegetables, however, are best turned into smoothies like avocado and banana because they are too dry. Some are too bitter or too strong to the taste they are best for cooking. Others are just great for mixing and matching with fruits and vegetables.
So, what are the fruits and vegetables that may taste nutritious and delicious as smoothies or in coockeries but not as juices? Here are some example :
Avocado - while this fruit is said to be complete, indeed a superfood, it has very little juice. Enjoy avocado as is, as a smoothie, or as a dip.
Coconut meat - Buko meat is great for salad or shakes. But turning it into a juice leaves you with almost nothing. The adult coconut meat, on the other hand, is best used as milk in vegetable cookery.
Banana - Banana sweetness and creaminess are great for smoothies but not for juices, simply because banana does not contain enough water.
Green beans - Baguio beans, string beans, and the like are loaded with nutrients but lack water content.
Mushrooms - Though prized for their umami flavor, mushrooms are just not for juicing or blending. Instead, they are great for soups, gravies and other cookery.
Potatoes - While some insist on making potato juice, I prefer that it be baked or cooked, instead of juiced, because of its very minimal water content. Juicing it only results to silky white paste.
Eggplant - Though the only vegetable with nasunin, a powerful antioxidant and a brain food found only in its skin, this versatile vegetable is best left for the cookery because it does not have lots of water. In addition, it contains solanine, which can be poisonous when taken in large doses (about 40 raw of eggplants) according to researches.
Okra- Okra can also be turned into a juice, but not through juicer or a blender. Just slice okra crosswise and drop in a glass or pitcher of water. Chill before drinking.
Squash- Although available all year round, squash yields too little juice and have hard meat. But baked squash or aquash soups, hmmm.. Delightfully delicious!!!
