What lesson can we learn from National Heroes Day?
"It's a National Heroes Day in our country August 29,2022 its a non working day, today we will remember the people who did heroic act so that we can gain freedom."
This isn't just a day of celebration but it's also a time to ponder what can we learn from those people who became heroes. Heroes are not just dead but they are also a lot of living heroes nowadays that are not recognized, but still they did a lot for our country.
What lessons can we learn from National Heroes Day?
Let me share some lessons that we can learn from our heroes,in which we can also applied in real life.
Overcoming hardships in life
As we all know life is getting harder lately, in terms of financial aspects, almost everybody are having a hard time to budget with daily needs that we need to provide for our family. Each day, even if life is indeed tough but we are still fighting, and we are all risk taker each moment we go outside, work, ride a vehicle towards, school, offices, and other workplace that we had. Our journey of overcoming doesn't stop right here, but it will take until our last breath.
Symbolize the values of our country
One way of valuing our Filipino culture and history is through National Heroes Day, as we verbally passed through the next generations. Hoping that the new breed of this age will never forget the message and value of our heroes sacrifices for the country. It doesn't need grand celebration but the message is real, to remember their heroic act so that our country will gain freedom.
It's all about sacrifices
Sacrifice means a lot, whether it's a form of time, effort and risking oneself for others.
We do have sacrifices each day, just like a mom who will never eat a dessert without her kids, instead of eating her snacks, she will bring it home so that they will share together. Spending more than 8 hours at work, or doing a lot of sideline, online and in outside world for their children.
And to every frontliners also that until now, still on the line because pandemic is still going on, soldiers, police men, and every working heroes, moms and dads, and everyone who strive for the family are great heroes of the new age.
How do a child describe a hero?
I ask my child what is hero for him?
And his answer is, a hero is someone who can fly, like Darna, superman, Thor, Doctor strange, those are foreign heroes that he know, while Gagamboy, boy Bawang, lastikman, Filipino. Isn't it so sad, that he didn't even said the name of our National Heroes, like Dr. Jose Rizal, Gregorion DEL Pilar, Apolinario Mabini etc. Huhu
And I asked him for the second time if he knows about our national hero and he said, that he already said it.
He doesn't even know of heard what did heroes did for our freedom, honestly, we don't talk about heroes at home, only this time that I was able to asked him, but it's discuss in their lessons in school as I have read his modules.
For real, the social media, and even the movie influenced and changed the definition of hero to our kids, as I have observed all they know are the heroes in the movie not the real heroes in the past.
And I also asked my daughter if he knows some great heroes of our country, and she answer, Doctor Jose Rizal is the only one that she knows. I'm glad she know at least one.
We are living heroes, we don't need to be put in danger to become heroes, we can do a lot for the humanity like helping them, in simple way that we can.
What lessoned that National Heroes Day have you learned?
Sacrifice is necessary, it's not limited with sacrificing lives but also with the smallest things
