What happened on our reunion day?

"Relatives from different part of the country, from young to oldest cousins, grand daughters and uncle, aunt are there too and one of our oldest member of the family came to attend the reunion day."

I was the one assigned for organizing the program during that day, which is for me a new task, because I didn't experienced organizing a family reunion. But I think, my family leave me no choice because, they are busy with their work, that's why they can't do the task anymore. The hardest thing for me, is managing the finances, budgeting and making a program, and parlor games arrangement.

The highlights of our reunion are, presentation of our family members, speeches from our parents, and grandparent, we only have her (Lola Emilia),dancing,and singing with our cousins who are naughty, childish and playful even if they are already grown-up.

The Decoration

Out theme is, "Family is Love",and our color them is "blue", but the word "love", was not there, maybe some kids are playing the letters. Although we are not family of singers, still, Filipinos really likes to sing everytime there is a gathering, that's what my relatives always do whenever there is an occasion.

The food (lechon)

This kind of food in Filipino tradition and family, lechon is the star of the table,,as you can see its skinless, everyone likes eat the skin first especially when it's just came from fire.

The cooking time

Everybody is helping to cooked the food, from the lechon and other recipes, everyone in the family have exert their effort to helped it to be done. Our venue is in my uncle's house, and we're cooking outside, but it rained prior the day of our reunion, so everyone is in trouble with the muddy place.

Everybody loves to eat, we cooked chicken, and calderetang kambing, panga, shrimps and also some desserts like spaghetti, buko salad, puto cheese and suman malagkit.

My uncle that I never see for a long time

They are one of the member of our family that we didn't see for how almost 10 years. I'm happy to know that my uncle have already established his life in Manila, and had his own family.

Each of our family had our family pictures, and my grandmother's grandchildren had also a photo, we are not complete in the picture, because some of our cousins are still working so they won't be able to attend the reunion day.

The parlor games

Rag race - In this game we use a floor mat, and the players will sit on the mat while he pushed his body to the finishing line without using his hands and feet. We had a very nice laughing time with this,i found this game online, you can try it also during Christmas party of family reunion. This is really fun.

Break the egg on the floor

The player will break the egg that is placed on the floor, while they are blind folded. But, it takes time to break it because the eggs will roll away, heheh the plastic bottle have been broken first before the egg.

It's the part of the gathering that gives us some smile and laugh out loud, because we have cousins who are comedian and always makes us laughed together.

Our prizes was sponsored by my uncle and cousins wife. The price of the boys have been used to buy beer, that's what most of my cousins favorite time, to drink.

The woman wearing blue shirt is my sister in law and the other one is the only grandmother that we have, because our grandparents in both side have already passed away, and she's my grandma's sister, and we're glad to have her for the first time. She's a cool grandma, she's like a teenager, hehe and a joker.

This is the time where everybody is very noisy when the ice cream was served, it's an ice cream that is being sell on the street, my cousin bought this for 1,500 pesos. It's better for me than buying brand ice-cream on grocery store, it's cheaper for 1 tube, the kids and adults enjoyed it so much.

We also give tribute to our Lola, and our parents through a special song, which is "salamat" by Yeng Constantino.

Above all, more than the laughing moments and eating time, what makes us happier is the reconciliation of my family's relationship. One of my uncle have initiate a private conversation among their siblings and they have agreed to be in good terms. And I think that's the main though why there is a reunion, for the family to stay connected, and close to each other. This gathering is better than the past, because we end it well and peacefully.

Before our families have go home, we had a devotional time and prayer early in the morning, and I think it completely close the reunion day.

Hopefully, next year everybody can come again, another venue, a new place to go. That's Lola saying bye, bye to us, and with teary eyes,we're glad to see him and will always be looking forward for more years to come together.

This is my update, from my family's reunion, which is the reason why I'm not active in both platforms for two days.
