Celebrating why,why not? Today December 24, at 3 pm I'm currently writing this article before Christmas Eve.Everyone might be very busy today with their cooking and preparing their gifts and other things they want to, like parlor games or preparing their videoke machine. As filipino traditions mostly here in my place,my neighbor's sing out loud and I think it will be getting louder when it's close to 12 midnight. Okay back to my topic,Christmas why,why not? For all Christians like me,or a catholic people around the world will celebrate this day,as a celebration to our mighty saviour Lord Jesus Christ. **Why Christmas?** Christmas derived from the words Christ (refers to Jesus) and mas (refers to the people),Christ is born for the world,to save our sin.Jesus is born in a very simple place with the sheep ,the manger.Where there is no elegant decorations or preparations for his birth.Its just with her mother Mary and her father Joseph as a human parents But there was no grandest entrance for the this King who is born. For me,Christmas is a very simple day with Jesus,as long as you have him in your life as your saviour,that is Christmas means a lot. **Can we celebrate without food in the table?** A lot of people prepares food for today,especially here in the Philippines,like spaghetti,chicken joy,lechon and many other delecacies on the table.Traditionally speaking,most people defined Christmas this way,eating,drinking,gift giving and partying.But if we based on the scripture,there was no such thing happened.As a traditions passed by our parents and their ancient generations,Christmas was seems like a feast. I'm not against for that matter,I just want to say that we should never forget the celebrant alone,the reason why we have prepared for today.To thank him,and praise for what he did for the world. Yes we can still celebrate without special menu or kind of food in our home.As we all know for the past days there are a lot of people from Visayas and Mindanao who was strike by typhoon odette.Some of them become homeless,lost their love ones ,property and their source of living.They don't even have food,water ,electricity.How do they can celebrate christmas? Yes they still can celebrate Christmas,as what my friend told me,who was affected by that typhoon."She's very thankful that her family was saved and alived ,despite of the storm.And she said,that being alive is enough reason to be happy and celebrate Christmas Day. The spirit of Christmas celebration for me,should not be based on any circumstances but it's just with God alone is the main reason. Shopping or receiving good gifts is another way of expressing what Christmas means ,not all can go to the mall,not all can buy and give gifts,But not all can cooked delicious food on their table.I think we should be sensitive of posting so much on our social media accounts with foods,for the sake of those who didn't have anything. I remember when my kids were just small we are in the hospital during Christmas Eve.Some people today are also in there today,or in their lonely days in their respective homes.They can celebrate this day with their hearts connecting to God alone ,just like when we are in the hospital during Christmas Eve,we pray and thank the Lord. Despite everything that happened in the world,Christmas is a great hope for us and makes people feel happy. **Christmas why not?** I have a neighbor who celebrate Christmas day with a death anniversary of her father. There are some who don't really celebrate because they are not believers of Jesus or Christians and we respect that. We all have different beliefs and faith which we stand for. Others just think that it's just an ordinary day,like nothing special to talk about,seems like ignoring or no cares. **Why not Christmas will be done daily?** I'm just wondering why don't we think that everyday is Christmas day,so that everyone will be happy all the time and excited. The larger point of Christmas is in our hearts , if we knew Him already. There are a lot of stories to tell after this day,whether about the food,the gifts we received and the preparations we did. And lastly,take care of your health during holidays,be mindful that all the food that are delicious contains sugar and fats and give effects to our health. **Why not prepare food if we can ?** If anyone who is blessed today financially,food is an expression of our gratefulness and thanksgiving.We can make our family feel happy eating together and sharing with each other. And also it's a privilege to share to those who don't have. Christmas celebration is just for one day but the larger point of this day,is eternity.Tomorrow is the day,but today is the reality,whatever we have today,whether we have food or not,remember that God is gracious for you and me.This air that we enhale for free is an evidence of his great blessing and what matters that in our daily living we can live with Him who guide us thought the year as we exist. It's a few hours to go before Christmas Eve,everybody here is still working on their daily jobs. I wish all the typhoon victims will be provided with their basic needs this day.
