Lyrics or Beat

Music, what is music? I bet anyone can answer that, even a child knows when music is being played, that natural effect that music produces that just you hear a song and next thing you begin to move your body in it's rythm, that's the power of good music.

Basically, music consists of two parts; the lyrics(words being said by the singer) and the beat which is produced by a producer. But amongst these two which to you think it's more important? Which of them add so much rythm to the song.

If you're a Nigerian, you will be familiar with most Nigerian Hip Hop music and you will agree with me that most of those song we hype so much is because of the good beat it has, sometimes we don't even know what those guys are saying but we vibe so much to the song because it has a good beat.

Have you ever listened to those South African highlife and Hip Hop music? Those guys are the king of beat, they sing in their language but because of how nice and rhythmic the beat is anyone can easily dance to their music.

On the other hand there's the lyrics, this refers to the words being said by the singer in the song, lyrics are also very important, there are some song that you can't just help but fall in love with the voice of the singer, some could be so melodic that a beat is not even needed to make it sound nice to the ears.

Obviously both are important in other to produce good music, but you know what they say; "they're two sides to a coin".

Which do you think it's more important, the beat or the lyrics?

Both of them are important as the beat makes no much sense without the lyrics and the lyrics as well
