Five Healthy Lifestyles you should adopt!
It’s not a surprise that many cultivate an unpleasant way of living that can alter their wellbeing without their knowledge. And so this raises a need to educate people on adopting and sustaining these five basic healthy life practices that can help manage and correct any poorly cultivated lifestyle and as well enhance your general wellbeing.
1. Sound Sleep
Emphasis needs to be made on the benefits of sound sleep, and how unhealthy it is to deny yourself one. But first, what is and not a “SOUND” sleep?
We all sleep at every point, during the day or perhaps at night. And there are claims that sleeping during the day should cover up for the night. But the truth is, some special times are designed for sleeping. And sleeping at those times can’t be compared to any other time of the day. A sound sleep is a good night's rest that spans for at least 6 hours. It is not a nap! It shouldn’t be quick. Your body needs sound sleep to function properly so as not to get overworked and sadly collapse.
It’s said you can’t cheat nature. No matter the number of naps you had during the day, it’s nothing compared to your night rest.
From relaxing your nerves to saving you from fatigue and keeping your mind rejuvenated and refreshed, a sound sleep could be everything you need in having that perfect life. It’s vital in helping you stay healthy and enhancing your well-being, thereby increasing your life span.
So poor sleeping lifestyle can be detrimental. And yes! It can also be related to health issues, for example, Insomnia. And there appears to be a correlation between Insomnia and depression, but having a good night sleep may help you avoid the symptoms of depression and improve your lifestyle.
Very Important, you should always sleep early. There’s a wise saying that says, “Early to bed early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.” A person who sleeps early and wakes up early will have a more successful life. There’s no perfect trick to getting up earlier than sleeping early.
2. Regular Exercise
Exercising is not just “keeping fit or improving an appearance” as most people presumed. And while there’s absolutely nothing wrong with exercising for aesthetic reasons, there is just too much priority on exercising solely for how we appear, with little regard for the remarkable benefits that regular exercising can provide.
Exercising/physical activity is beneficial to everyone regardless of age, gender, or physical abilities. It does have lots of psychological and mental effect on man and provide numerous health privileges.
To highlight a few:
• It combats health problems and conditions. E.g., Stroke, High blood pressure, Diabetes.
• It enhances our mood and encourages better sleep.
• It helps us age well etc
3. Eating breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It’s okay to skip lunch and dinner but not breakfast (I don’t mean you should skip lunch and dinner either 🙂) but your body needs good food for effective operation and breakfast is one of those important meals. In a study published in the medical journal Metabolism, it’s found that skipping meals during the day and eating one large meal in the evening can result in elevated glucose levels and a delayed insulin response, which can contribute to diabetes in the long run.
Why breakfast and when should it be eaten?
Before breakfast, it’s believed that you’ve been fasting since your previous meal, was about 10-12 hours ago. Hence, prompt the name “breakfast.” So, you need to break it.
Breakfasts should be eaten as early as possible. Delayed breakfast is harmful, and can result in health implications like gastric ulcers and the rest. It should also be eaten regularly, and not often or occasionally. You should always have your breakfast, no matter how late or hasty you are.
What kind of meal is preferable for breakfast?
A little light food is perfect for breakfast! Breakfasts shouldn’t be heavy or too much. Being overfed isn’t a good way to start your day. There are also other food types you should avoid: Junks, for instance, have a higher tendency of making you obese, and when you fail to exercise, you are likely prone to several health conditions.
Your food combination is also vital in sustaining a healthy system. It’s one thing to eat and to eat right. Poor food combination is worse than not eating at all. A poor food combo can disrupt your system and leave you indisposed.
A balanced diet is solely recommended while making your meal choice. Your breakfast should comprise most or all of the six classes of food.
4. Staying Hydrated
Medically, not drinking enough water can lead to many health implications: Hard stool, constipation are common effects. Dehydration can also result in dryness of the skin, making you look pale and less radiant.
Water aids our bowel function and it also decreases the risk of kidney stones and urinary infections. But as important as drinking enough water can be, too much water intake can cause a medical condition known as hyponatremia (water intoxication). It is a rare condition where excessive water intake can cause low sodium levels in the blood where the kidney cannot excrete enough fluid through urine thus, making the blood diluted leading to headaches, cramps, impaired vision, unconsciousness and possibly death. So, drinking water should be in moderation. Don’t overdo it.
And finally!
5. Smile often
Yes! You read right. Wearing a big smile can be all you need to ease that tension and break free from whatever feeling you are in. It’s one of life’s presents to us. A smiling face is a happier one, and a happier one is a healthy one.
Smiles are medicinal and contagious. They don’t just brighten up your life but also the lives of people you cross paths with. It builds trust and preaches strength, and also spread a lot of positivity for the hope of better times. It is the best exercise for your soul. Wear it!
“Let your smiling soul speak the language of compassion and spread peace and tranquillity.” ~Pavneet Kaur
