Who am I?

I am going to turn heads today. That was the exact words of Didi as she concluded her make up, ready to attend the end of the year feast. She was dressed in a shiny straight gown displaying her beautiful figure, her feet enclosed with stiletto heels, her face as bright as a star and her lips painted in nude. Didi was dressed to impress.

High personalities are ever present so getting a ticket to this event ain't easy at all, especially for an average person like Didi. Last year during the event,someone was awarded with the sum of 3M for carrying out a simple task. He was an average person too. She hoped to be as lucky as the person.

Don't get the wrong impression! Didi is not a call-girl. She is a girl with raw talent, very smart, but she lacked one thing..

Didi got a cab heading to the location and when she got there, she was amazed by how beautiful the event centre deco looked. I don't expect anything less, she said to herself. She got down, paid the cab and as she walked towards the building, she noticed someone was trailing her, so she stopped. A cute looking guy came up to her "you look beautiful mind walking with me?" She smiled and replied "sure thing" He held her hands and the walked into the hall.

The event started proper and everyone including Didi was having a good time. it's time for the talk show segment. The organizers were calling for entries, but Didi was reluctant. She has done something similar but was still scared she would disgrace herself, she did not participate.

She laughed at the people who tried. The fashion segment came up and she said to herself, "people have been looking my way and that's because I am looking very beautiful. This will be a walk in the park" Didi stood up as quickly as she could, go on girl, Brian said. She cat walked to the stage with smiles of victory on her face, people cheered. When she got there, other ladies started trooping to the stage too. This time the claps were even more resounding. Didi's countenance changed immediately. Dsappointment written all over it. Her competitors were way better than her.

Didi did not make it to the top 3 at the end of the segment. The top 3 in two categories were not only given prizes, but also given the opportunity to advance more on the field. Didi lost out!

She could've done better than all those in the talk show segment, but Didi got nothing because she focused on her weakness which in turn took away the opportunity in front of her. She was uncertain because she didn't know her strength and that made her choose the wrong segment.

It's ironically how we know very well what our weakness is but is uncertain about our strength. We struggle because we don't really know what we are made of. Life takes advantage of us because we don't know our purpose, our place. It's like traveling without a map, wondering without direction. The possibility of getting to the desired location i close to zero
