What Will You Be Known For?
Last Sunday church service was a blast. The music was one that made everyone danced so much in appreciation to God for all that he has done and for that which we are expectant about. During the sermon, our Reverend asked an usher to read the passage of the day. This was strange owing to the fact the he has never asked anyone specifically to do that. It has always been the first to open – first to read tradition.
This usher is actually a lady. A beautiful one that is devoted to service - It is not easy to stand every Sunday when everyone else is sitting, moving around to either bring the offering boxes or share fliers and other books to the congregation, being sent on errands sometimes by those that are younger while service is going on and being disrespected trying to make people sit right or act orderly. All these and more is what being an usher entail and this Lady is not lagging behind at all. She stood up in her shinny looking attire and read the passage. After the service came to a close, I saw her receiving some money from a group of people as share for a contribution that they do. Slowly and gradually, everyone left for his or her abode.
On Wednesday, 6th April 2022, my mum received a call and yelled almost immediately.
When I heard her yell I already knew that something has happened. I came out of my room and my mum after hanging up told us that this lady that I just talked about has now kicked the bucket! and in a terrible and heartbroken way possible; she was on her way, travelling to another state to buy goods for her business when the event that took her life occurred. The vehicle she boarded had an accident and not only that, it caught fire and this lady got burnt beyond recognition. Such a sardonic and horrible way to die especially at this time when the weather is so hot. Her remains were not what could be kept in a mortuary facility so her family members buried her next day. This is someone who we saw in church just days ago is now dead and buried!
I wonder what she could’ve dome differently if she was ever told that she would be six feets under in a few days. Would one even want to be told when death will come? Its just sad. Death really comes like a thief in the night. You do not know when. Where or how, it just comes unexpectedly.
We that are still in the land of the living should be grateful to God each day for our lives and that of our families. We should take advantage and make good use of the time we still have and put smiles on people’s faces, be happy and let go of anything or anyone that makes us feel otherwise. We cave out time and create a personal relationship with our creator (the one who gives and takes) worship and serve him in sprit and truth because no matter how hard we work to achieve anything, the God factor will always come first. There are many things in this world which makes one wary, disappointed and tired but then being angry at the maker won’t savage the situation because after all we are just like pencils; tools in the creator’s hands. A tool should not be mad at its boss (user) because the user has got all the control.
Remember that we are passerby’s in a market that is called the world and we’ll all go back when the time is due to give account to the sovereign one.

Thank you.
At some point, death is peace to me. I want to see my dad badly. Tho, I know I still have duty to fulfill.
