The hardy Chinese have built up the country with skyscrapers, shopping centers, roads and bridges, and now they have built a giant mega airport.

Because of the rapid growth of passenger traffic, the People's Republic needs new infrastructure solutions. One of these was the second international airport in Beijing - Dasin.

The area of the air harbor terminal building is 1 million square meters, making it the second largest airport terminal building in the world after the new airport of Istanbul. The total area of the airport is 47 square kilometers.

Dasin is a five-pointed star, each of whose rays is almost 600 meters long. The five rays are decorated according to one or another Chinese tradition. The first is dedicated to Chinese gardens, the second to agriculture, the third to silk, the fourth to porcelain, and the fifth, of course, to tea.

There are 82 gates with telegraphs in the terminal, each of them has 4 floors at once, where the zones of domestic departures, international departures, domestic arrivals and international arrivals are located respectively.

The airport has 4 runways with the length of 3400-3800 m; it can accept passenger aircrafts of all types.

Despite the scale, the airport is designed for a passenger flow of 45 million people per year. However, it is expected that by 2025 there will be already 72 million passengers, and later - up to 100. This will require the construction of new terminals. Meanwhile, the largest airport in the world in terms of passenger traffic is Atlanta (USA): 105 million passengers, and in the future it should overtake the new airport of Istanbul. The second place in the world (98 million passengers) is near the old airport of Beijing (Shoudu).

The airport is planned to be fully launched with passengers in September this year. At the same time, a large railway junction located under the airport, serving high-speed trains, will start operating.

The first floor is reserved for the arrival of international flights, the 2nd floor will receive domestic flights, the 3rd floor can be used for domestic flights using automatic check-in desks, and the 4th floor will accept all international departures and domestic departures through the served check-in desks.

Beijing-Dasin meets the highest environmental standards. A rainwater harvesting system will be implemented in the terminal. The building structure uses natural light, natural ventilation and other energy-saving technologies.

The roof of the airport is already recognized as the world's largest steel roof of the airport terminal, which is equal to 25 soccer fields.

World renowned architect and designer Zaha Hadid participated in its design.

The air harbor has already set another record - it is the world's largest single building without structural joints.

According to the project manager Li Jianhua, Dasing is not only an airport, but also the largest transport hub in China, in the construction of which invested about 15 billion dollars.

Dasin will be able to receive up to 620 thousand flights per year. According to the project, the capacity of the air harbor by 2025 may reach 72 million people and it will have to handle up to 2 million tons of cargo per year.

Due to the fact that the building has a radial location in the form of a five-pointed star, it will be possible to get from any of the 82 telegraphs in no more than 8 minutes. Therefore, those who think that such a huge area will require a lot of time to move are mistaken, because the structure of the building has been thought through every detail, including adapted barrier-free environment designed for the movement of people with disabilities.

Go Yanchi, the chief engineer of the Dasin International Airport, said about it: "Despite the fact that this is a large building, you will not feel the distance when you are inside. Standing in the middle, you can see the end of the air hall, which is only 600 meters from the central point. If the passenger will see all this, he will not be nervous.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of China and the project manager Li Jianhua, when creating an airfield harbor of this scale, were thoroughly calculated and taken into account the needs of visitors, so the entire infrastructure of the hub is aimed at meeting the "maximum efficiency and comfort of passengers. And this is true, because before its opening it is already considered the most complex engineering project in aviation history.

For the construction 11 settlements were demolished, another 24 were displaced due to the alleged noise pollution, the total number of displaced people was about 20,000 people. Compensation lump sum payments amount to $150,000 per property owner and $300 monthly subsidy for the rent of new housing.
