Sleeping early have not been my thing for years maybe it was cause of my university days which I had to ready all through the night and all, but today was quite unusual cause I started feeling dizzy, so before I dazzle to the dream land I'll love to talk about the four Stages of sleeping.
Sleeping is a state where your not aware or inactive of what's happening around your environment, sleeping helps regulate the brain for it to function optimally.
It's a naturally reoccurring state of the mind and body which keeps the body system and homeostasis at equilibrium and ever functional.
The most important function of sleeping is to maintain the brain Activity.
The need for sleeping is essential and varies in humans of differentage group, for adults an average grown up person sleeps 7-8hours daily, the total amount of time spent of sleeping depends on the person's perception. For me to stay mentally balanced and fresh I do make sure I sleep during the day time to prevent falling asleep involuntarily.
The sleeping stages
Two board phases of sleeping
1 . The non-REM :
This is one that consist of 3 stages before you transistor to the next board phase of sleeping called paradoxical ( Dream sleep), both sleeping phases comprise of the sleeping cycle.
Stage 1 : this is one where you can be easily waken, it is characterized by slipping In and out of sleep, this I'd a transitional phase cause it happens between minutes being awake and sleeping.
Stage 2 : this sleep is similar to stage 1, just that it lasts for 15-30 mins, just that you will be more driven to wake up more compared to stage 1.
Stage 3 : Its also called the slow wave-sleep, its a deep sleep and called so cause the electrical activities of the brain slows down gradually with allows and individual loose stimulus of its environment, In the paradoxical (REM) sleep the brain functions like when your awake. An average adult spend 50percent of their sleeping time on stage 2 and 20% on paradoxical sleep and 30% on stage 1 and 3.
Deep sleep is one which helps repair the body and tissue system and also regulate the brain Activity.
Research says the part of the brain cells that are responsible for emotions and decision making are impaired during deep sleep.
2 . paradoxical (REM) : this is a sleeping phase Characterized by rapid eye movements(REM),
It gets longer as the night progresses, this is the type of sleep responsible for active brain cells for learning.
Thus it is important for learning and remembering new/ old things(Photographic memory)
Hope we all learnt something new today..
Have a wonderful night rest..
As I observe as you age stage 3 and 4 is difficult how much more with REM.
