Why I don't like "Meokbang" vlogging
Many of us have developed a fascination with Meokbang, or folks who enjoy eating big quantities of food at a table. This all started in South Korea and then exploded in popularity around the world especially in the Philippines. While some people are infatuated with this type of vlogging, I find it really upsetting.
The following are my reasons why I don't like this kind of food eating:
1. Some Meokbang-ers are wasting food
I saw on Facebook about a vlogger who is just throwing up everything she eats during meokbang. It turned out that the same thing was happening to other vloggers. It irritates me personally. Some folks out there don't have enough food to eat and are rummaging through garbage cans for food, while you, on the other hand, are simply wasting it.
2. Promoting bad habits in eating unhealthy foods
I've seen that the bulk of folks who do this vlogging is simply encouraging people to live unhealthy lifestyles. Some vloggers have a habit of eating a lot of pizza, burgers, fries, and other unhealthy snacks all at once! This type of dietary habit, in my opinion, is not good during this pandemic. Call me a knucklehead, but this isn't that beneficial.
3. Not totally Practical to do with ordinary people
Yes, vlogging this type of eating behavior may bring you more money in the form of views, but believe me when I say that health difficulties will surface sooner or later. Those that make vlogs like this may visit their physicians on a regular basis, but as a regular person who is only following the trend, trust me when I say that doing so will have no benefits for you.
Since we all have different levels of sensitivity, I respect if you still enjoy this type of vlogging. But keep in mind that if you want to try this meokbang, you should never waste food only to attract attention. ☺
