Story 1: God Begins to Make

2 26

All of the good things we have come from God. He made the sun to shine by day, and the moon and stars to shine by night.

He also made the land for us to live in. But these were not the first things God did. Do you know which one is first? He made the angels first. We do not see them, just as we do not see God.

He made angels to dwell with him in heaven. The first angel he made was special. He helped God to do other things, including this land. What did the land look like then? At first no one could live on earth. Everything is covered by water.

So God prepared the earth for us. What did he do? Well, God first brought light to the earth from the sun. So there was day and night.

Then God moved the earth to the surface of the water. At first the soil was empty. It looks like the picture you see here.

There are no flowers, trees or animals. There are still no fish in the sea. There is more to do with God.

Jeremiah 10:12; Colossians 1: 15-17; Genesis 1: 1-10

Jeremiah 10:12 12

He is the Creator of the earth by his power; He made the fertile soil firm with his wisdom, And he laid the heavens with his understanding.

Genesis 1: 1-10

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the active force of God moves steadily over the water. 3 And God began to say: "Let there be light." Then there was the light. 4 Then God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light and the darkness. 5 And God began to call the light Day, but the darkness he called Night. And there was night and there was morning, the first day. 6 And God said, "Let there be a firmament between the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." 7 Then God began to make the expanse and separated the waters that were below the firmament and the waters that were above the firmament. And so it was. 8 And God began to call Heaven a galaxy. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day. 9 And God said, "Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear." And so it was. 10 And God began to call the dry land Earth, but the waters he called Seas. Also, God saw that it was good.
