Japanese Occupation was during Philippine History from 1942 to 1945, during World War II, when the Japanese Empire invaded the Philippines that was once under the control of or under the control of the United States.

During World War II, Japanese troops bombed the Philippines on December 8, 1941. This occurred one day after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and the United States. A few weeks later, General Douglas McArthur resigned with the government of Manuel L. Quezon, then serving as President of the Philippines.

The Japanese established only a government of their own, with its president, Jose P. Laurel. [1] In October 1944, the war of the liberation of the Philippines from the Japanese began when Douglas MacArthur's forces landed on the Leyte Peninsula.

Sergio Osmeña was proclaimed the new president of the Philippines at the death of Manuel Quezon.

US troops bombed Manila heavily in February 1945. Americans resisted General Homma's military forces in Mountain Province, who were forced to surrender when they failed in their attempted escape. [1]
