How to Reduce Electric Bills
Excepting a very few abnormal, almost all of us will love to see a reduced electric bill. A low electric bill means you save some money every month. The saved money may be utilized for a lot of other purchases.
There is no way one can reduce electrical energy requirements by computers and servers. The web servers need to run 24x7 and serve clients worldwide. It is unthinkable to keep the web servers shut down for even a minute.
There are ways to adopt energy consumption strategies that may help minimize average electrical energy-burning daily. At least, people can adopt good habits of optimized utilization of electrical and electronic devices.
In this article, I will disclose a unique way how to reduce daily electrical energy consumption in your home, office, business, and other places in the community.
One can follow some guidelines circulated by all major national electrical power supply corporations. The global citizens are tired of listening to that advice. But, these guidelines are key to reducing our monthly electric bills.
Never keep the ceiling and table fans running when you leave your office workspace or home, or any community place.
Always keep the windows/doors shut down when running the airconditioners.
Don't keep the door of your refrigerator open for a longer time.
Use LED lamps instead of traditional filament, CFL, and fluorescent lamps.
And there could be many more helpful tips that you may find on the website of your local electric supply corporation.
All of you might have been aware of renewable electrical energy, such as solar photovoltaics, wind energy, tidal energy, etc.
Handheld calculators have used solar power for many years. You might have also seen solar panels on the rooftop of some of the houses in your locality.
The photovoltaic solar panels receive solar energy when exposed to Sunlight. The light impinges on the solar panels that yield photoinduced DC voltage from the panels.
The general norm is to utilize the generated DC voltage to charge several chargeable batteries. Later convert the stored DC voltage from the batteries into AC voltage using a set of electronic circuitry, and supply the converted AC electrical power to the home/office for usage.
The other forms of renewable energy also accomplish the job of electrical DC power generation and conversion it to AC power by electrics.
But, the DC power generation by renewable devices (solar, wind, etc.) and conversion to AC power don't give encouraging efficiency.
The renewable electrical energy must be utilized in an intillgent manner to maximize the energy efficieny.
We describe an innovative project that delivers sustainable solutions combining energy efficiency and green energy using a smart approach.
The sustainable solution consists of four main steps.
Use solar photovoltaic panels to generate sufficient DC electrical power.
When there is an interruption of the electrical mains supply, directly feed the generated DC electrical power to specially designed DC electrical devices.
When the mains electrical mains power is available, convert the photovoltaic DC electrical power to AC electrical power, feed it to the mains grid of the government electrical mains supply, and earn money by selling it to the government.
Use a specially designed smart electronic control circuitry to switch the operation between steps 2 and 3 automatically.
In most countries, the governments have initiated a rule on how to accept generated renewable energy from the citizens and reward them by net metering norms.
If your country doesn't have the rewarding schemes for buying renewable electrical energy from the citizens, the conversion of DC to AC part may be selected to be turned off in the smart electronic control unit.
I discussed all this in great detail with Mr. R. Ramarathnam, the founder and chairman of Basil Energetics, in a video podcast on December 22, 2021.
Mr. Ramarathnam designed and developed a special class of electric DC fans, LED lamp assemblies, air conditioners, refrigerators, and the associated smart electronics.
In India, by adopting the sustainable solution as described by Mr. Ramarathnam, the electric bills can be drastically reduced, by an average of fifty percent reduction of electric bills.
Moreover, by adopting a properly designed solution, including the solar panels, the electrical devices, and the smart control electrics, the electrical bills may be compensated to be zero if the net metering facility of the state electric supply is availed.
