GNU/Linux is a Big Power for a Computer User
When did you start using computers?
Looking back on my computer usage gives me a lot of peace of mind because I use GNU/Linux, Free and Open Source Software (FOSS).
In fact, I have been using GNU/Linux and FOSS since the early 1990s. In 1991, Linus Torvalds introduced the Linux kernel as a student at Helsinki University.
We were graduate students at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, one of the premier academic institutes in India.
In the 1990s, desktop PCs were slowly arriving in the departments. Most students and faculty members were using a mainframe computer connected through LAN across the laboratories at the departments.
Most desktop PCs were running the old MS-DOS operating system.
Out of these PCs, some were loaded with a GNU/Linux operating system, most probably Slackware Linux.
Very few people were willing to try GNU/Linux.
Linux is an open-source UNIX-like kernel.
UNIX is the operating system that was followed in the Disk Operating System (DOS) originally created for IBM-compatible desktop computers. DOS didn't have the security features of UNIX.
IBM could have kept the license of the software, which they didn't think would be a great source of business earnings! But DOS is the first business-earning project by a startup called Microsoft!
People were trying an alternative to UNIX that wouldn't use the proprietary algorithm but an open-source one. The purpose was to create a free and open-source kernel similar to UNIX.
In 1991, Linus Torvald circulated in an email list his new UNIX-like kernel, and the community accepted it to test. The rest is history.
Linux is now a huge success in the entire computing arena.
The entire cyberspace is utilizing the gift of Linux and open-source software.
More than 65 percent of the world wide web runs on Linux servers.
Microsoft's top-earning Azure Cloud business heavily depends on Linux.
Instead of saying Linux is a "cancer," they now say, "Microsoft Love Linux."
Top 100 Azure Cloud clients select Linux over Windows!
Android OS is based on the Linux kernel, which is the top OS for mobile phones.
Microsoft's mobile OS is a big failure for mobile phones!
Adopt a GNU/Linux OS and FOSS for your computer.

Try a GNU/Linux OS for your computer, desktop, or Laptop.
Linux and FOSS are so good you will never repent.
Your computing life will become safe, productive, and peaceful :)
Cheers!
