Freedom is the New Goal
Goals in life change with time.
The goals in life don't seem to remain the same. It continues to change with time and age. Our goals get constant upgradation throughout life.
When I was a toddler
I wanted to have toys that could be operated with a spring. In those days, electronic toys were not on the market. Resourceful parents used to gift their children with costly mechanical toys.
As a high school student
I got interested in the science of everything. I was happy to experience the effects of electricity and magnetism. Most electrical and electronic devices attracted me. During those days, computers didn't arrive in the mainstream.
When I was in college
I started to realize that there is a big gap between dreaming, thinking, and doing. Getting the UG degree and entering into a Master's study program was my main goal. My interests were science and engineering, i.e., STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). However, I didn't miss arts and music because those were co-curricular interests.
As a university student and research scholar
I focused on trending research areas of applied sciences. At that time, the goal was to delve into innovative research and develop something useful for society. At the same time, I was a little worried about getting suitable employment after graduation.
When I was a technical staff of a government R&D lab
I promised myself to give my best to work on the research projects. After experiencing the bureaucratic functioning of government R&D, I was having questions about how to contribute and continue. The propaganda of fake progress by the government got me into doubts and frustration.
As a professor in private academic institutes,
I re-established my self-belief system with lessons from past experiences. I reconnected with my academic roots and started contributing to teaching courses and formulating hands-on research projects. However, the undercover nexus between private academia and government administrators compelled me to rethink my goals.
As a technology researcher and entrepreneur
I re-structure my thinking nodes and connected them with idea links. I renovated the past projects and discovered a new paradigm shift in education. I call it three-dimensional (3D) education, with academics, research, and entrepreneurship as the three axes. With that, I foresee a new goal - Freedom.
Freedom is the new goal.
We all chase money because money is required to make a decent living.
Some of us chase freedom more than traditional money-making jobs.
Freedom has become a new goal in life for many humans.
Freedom to think
Freedom to write
Freedom to speak
Freedom to work
Freedom to earn
Freedom to spend
Freedom to interact
Freedom to travel
Freedom to rest
And so on.

We all have freedoms being enjoyed which you have enumerated in your article. And I think others not mentioned are the ones to be set as goals. We must realized then that Our freedoms being enjoyed has its own responsibilities to be observed . Meaning it limits us when we stepped into one's freedom being enjoyed, isn't it. Well it's my own opinion. What do you think?
