Sawyer pulled into Ethan's driveway feeling apprehensive about coming over to play a video game. He almost said no. He liked Ethan, but felt both of them were from two separate sides of the track. The fight they had days before proved it. Sawyer wanted to avoid another at all cost.
Ethan met him at the door. He was smiling from ear to ear. Typical Ethan, Sawyer thought.
Ethan and Sawyer played "Call of Duty" for over three hours before Sawyer got tired. He stated he was getting exhausted to Ethan.
"My parents went to church to attend some type of seminar. Would you like to stay for dinner? I'm cooking," Ethan said.
Sawyer thought for a moment. "Sure. Why not?"
Ethan smiled. "Great."
Ethan was nervous as he got out his mom's cook book and read through a few of the recipes. Within thirty minutes Ethan found the perfect meal to prepare. "White Cheese Pizza From Scratch."
Ethan had the dough perfectly flat in twenty minutes. Then he started on the sauce. It was much easier.
Once the spread was done, Ethan started on the cheese. He added spinach to the mix. Once he finished, Ethan placed the pizza into the oven for thirty minutes to cook.
While the pizza cooled, Ethan went upstairs to take a quick shower. He was filthy from all that dough. He also put on some nicer clothes. Sawyer had dressed very nicely for their time together so Ethan wanted to do the same. He also put on some cologne. His favorite was Aspen. He hoped Sawyer didn't read too much into it. When he finished, he went back downstairs to get the pizza and to see how Sawyer was going to like it.
Ethan entered into his living room looking like a million bucks, carrying his pizza right along.
Sawyer looked first at the pizza, then at Sawyer. "Wow Ethan. I've never seen you wear clothes like that!" Sawyer actually smiled as he said it.
Ethan got goosebumps. "Well you know, I kinda got messy from the pizza dough so I had to change."
"Here, let me help you with that." Sawyer grabbed the dish and helped Ethan with the pizza.
Once everything was ready they began to eat. Ethan took one look at Sawyer downing his pizza like a snake and knew he'd done a terrific job cooking.
When they finished dinner Sawyer had to go. He said bye to Ethan and left. Ethan watched him leave, then went back to his room to get a little sleep. It had been a rather long evening and he wanted to rest. He secretly hoped Sawyer was getting over their fight, and hoped was now thinking he had made an awesome new friend in Ethan.
Sawyer drove home and replayed the events of the day with Ethan. He made a mental note to write out new lesson plans for their calculus sessions.
He wanted Ethan to not only pass, but to make an A. He saw the potential. Plus, nobody took calculus their senior year in high school. He was obviously very smart. He was one of the top fifty students in his year. Sawyer was one of the top ten.
Once he got home, Sawyer texted Ethan and told him he was gonna make new lesson plans. Ethan texted back saying ok. Afterwards, Sawyer decided to get some rest.
Ethan and Sawyer met up every afternoon for the rest of the week. They had three sessions scheduled each week for three solid months, hoping his grades in calculus would improve.
Not only did they meet up every afternoon that week, but they also hung out at the varsity afterwards. Ethan had to pull teeth to get Sawyer to go, but it worked. Sawyer wasn't really that hard to convince to do anything as long as you treated him right. Upon Ethan's observation, he was really a softy. He just looked tough.
They would eat at the varsity then go their own separate ways afterwards.
