When they finished, back in their room, Sawyer asked Ethan to lay on the bottom bunk with him. They didn't cuddle or anything but Sawyer relaxed while Ethan lay there awkwardly. "Uh, what am I doing down here," he asked Sawyer.
"I just thought you would be happier if you were down here with me. Did you have any homework you had to finish or something?"
"No, I didn't." Ethan replied.
Ethan cuddled close to Sawyer while Sawyer took out a book and began to read. Sawyer put his right arm behind Ethan's back and Ethan cuddled Sawyer's side. In minutes he was asleep.
Sawyer read for a little while before he to felt like taking a nap. The camping trip was exhausting for both of them and neither had slept all that well, given what they had done and been through. Sawyer put down his book and held Ethan with both arms and went to sleep.
Ethan woke up to find himself in Sawyer's arms. Oh, how he wanted to keep the camaraderie going, however, Ethan was hot. He wriggled out of Sawyer's arms slowly as not to wake him, then decided to get some air. He walked outside and folded his arms. Sawyer's house looked beautiful at night. His land stretched out pretty far and you could see the green grass from the street lights sway back and forth in the wind. Ethan couldn't believe how happy he was.
He thought about his school, his parents, and his future. What would happen should he and Sawyer become a couple? How would that affect his college life and his future? Shoot, how would it affect his high school life? People already disliked him for being Sawyer's friend. He had no idea how much worse it could be should he become Sawyer's boyfriend. He wasn't the type to hide things, so he was sure he would tell the truth about him and Sawyer. Sawyer would have more of a problem than he would about the relationship being in the light. Ethan always lived his life in the truth. If he ended up gay and in a relationship with another guy, he wouldn't hide it. Sawyer would.
Ethan sat down in the rocking chair on Sawyer's front porch. Ethan could tell that he was still sore from his camping trip. Him and Sawyer had been very rough with each other, making love and breaking their virginities. They hadn't gone easy on each other. Well, it was Sawyer's fault and pride. Sawyer had refused to allow Ethan to be rough with him, even though it was in Ethan's nature. You're supposed to follow your heart when you make love, not your head as Sawyer had done. Sawyer is gentle and slow by nature. Ethan wasn't. That's probably why their first time had been so rough. Sawyer hadn't yet accepted who he was in the relationship.
Ethan turned around and went back inside so he could get some more sleep. He'd be up and getting ready for school in less than seven more hours and he needed to get some rest to be energized and ready for tomorrow.
Ethan opened his eyes. Dang! Still sore. Just how long is this going to last?
He hopped out of his bed and climbed down the latter to the floor. Sawyer was still asleep.
Ethan was touched Sawyer wasn't getting up early anymore for school only to avoid him. After their last fight, Ethan had been sure Sawyer was done with him. He certainly wasn't going to test the stars by getting into another one. He loved Sawyer and cherished his relationship too much with him. He leaned over and kissed Sawyer on the forehead. Afterwards he went to take a shower and get ready for school.
Sawyer woke up at seven-thirty. Getting to his feet, Sawyer checked to make sure Ethan wasn't still asleep. He saw Ethan had already gotten up and left. Sawyer went and showered. He noticed he was still sore from his camping trip. Nothing intense today during PE, Sawyer mentally told himself. He showered and changed into some school clothes. Once he was ready for school, he left and made his way to the jeep. On his windshield wiper, Sawyer noticed a note.
