Ethan had a good feeling in his heart the next morning. He felt good. Sawyer woke up at six and left at seven. When Ethan went through his morning routine, he could not find Sawyer anywhere.
He tried to keep Sawyer out of his mind. He knew if he clung to him too much, he would wind up disappointed again.
Ethan found himself overly sensitive when it came to his and Sawyer's relationship. Just mentioning Sawyer brought out a vulnerable and a secret Ethan that no one else knew. Sawyer didn't know much about him. Ethan still thought Sawyer was straight. Only time would tell where that relationship went.
A week passed by and Ethan allowed Sawyer to breathe. He let him get up early in the morning without saying anything about it. He didn't look for Sawyer in the hallway. He didn't say too much his way while they were in the bedroom at the same time. Ethan truly tried to give Sawyer his space.
It started to work to. Sawyer approached Ethan the following week and asked him if he wanted to go camping. Ethan agreed enthusiastically.
"I haven't been in a long time, and I kinda want to get away for the weekend but I don't want to be alone."
"You won't be alone Sawyer. I'll be there."
Sawyer smiled at Ethan, lighting his whole face.
Sawyer and Ethan had everything packed and ready to go. Ethan didn't do much because Sawyer had all the supplies.
The destination was Destin Woods. It was a very nice wooded area in the middle of the state about three hours from Sawyer's house.
Sawyer was taking his jeep and doing all of the driving.
The highway they drove down became very woodsey around and about them. It looked nice and serene.
"I can't believe I haven't been camping on my own before," Ethan admonished.
"Well once we do it you'll be able to say you have," Sawyer smiled.
They drove on until it got kinda dark. "Oh my God. It's gonna be awfully scary when we set up the tent," Ethan cried with a laugh.
"We'll have each other," Sawyer smiled.
Ethan smiled, "awe thanks Sawyer."
"Y'know Ethan. You really are a lot of fun to be around. Don't ever sell yourself short. People love you for a reason."
Ethan just smiled on.
The place they chose was in the middle of the woods where no one else went near. Sawyer grabbed the tent and began to put it together. Ethan grabbed the sleeping bags and gasoline and cooler and put everything together and got everything ready to use.
Ethan was amazed at Sawyer's work by the time he was through. His tent was literally the size of a small house.
"Oh my God," Ethan joyfully rang out. He walked inside and looked around as if he were in a magical land or something. Sawyer looked at him like he was crazy.
"It's just a tent Ethan."
"No it's not. It's an amazing structure all on its own."
"Well maybe it's because I've seen it before. This is your first time."
"Pretty much."
They lugged their sleeping bags and other overnight essentials into the tent, then they shut the door and placed their sleeping bags beside each other. "It's gonna be cold tonight, and even though I believe our heater will help, it may not be enough. We should sleep close together tonight in case we need body heat," Sawyer suggested.
"Yeah I know. I'm very cold natured to."
They wrapped up into their sleeping bags and faced each other.
"So." Sawyer said.
"So," Ethan replied.
"Didn't you want to talk to me about us, Ethan?"
Ethan's heart started beating fast.
"Yes I did," Ethan replied, looking more serious now.
"Well I am all ears now," Sawyer said.
Ethan looked at Sawyer. Saw how beautiful and kind he was.
"Well I have to be honest here. I find myself missing you when you are not there. Ever since our fight, I have felt as though I have lost you somehow. You've withdrawn from me. I don't care that you do it to others. Just not to me. I love you Sawyer."
Ethan lunged forward and caught Sawyer in a kiss. His lips went between Sawyers'. Ethan's lips were strong. They held Sawyer's with a fervent passion. When he finished, he backed away a little. Sawyer seemed disappointed when he did so.
"Why did you back away?" Sawyer asked.
Ethan smiled. "I'm not use to kissing guys."
Sawyer smiled back.
