INTRODUCTION

Most times the devil is tricky in making the church think that you have to be like the world in other to win the world. In the twenty-first century, the church has been seduced by the world rather than turning the world upside down. As such, the greatest threat to the church is not persecution by the world but the church becoming like the world. The problem is not only that many churches have adopted the world’s tactics in what they do but also that they have adopted the world’s message in what they say.

The reality is that many Christians simply aren’t aware that God has provided the church with particular means for winning souls. In fact, for several years after I became a Christian, I was unaware that God had ordained that the church use such means to rescue souls, disciple souls, nourish souls, and restore souls.

What makes a church a true church is not simply a crowd of people doing things however they want and saying whatever they want. Rather, a true church is the gathering of believers who are worshiping God according to His Word and according to the means God has ordained. A true church of Jesus Christ is a congregation of those who have professed faith in Jesus Christ and who are committed to the unadulterated preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the whole counsel of God, prayer, and the proper administration of the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, which includes the consistent practice of church discipline. If a church fails to be faithful to these ordinary marks of the church, it fails to be a true church.

Churches that do not preach the pure gospel of Jesus Christ and the whole counsel of God for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness—that God’s people may be competent and equipped for every good work—are in reality not churches at all.

WHAT IS SOUL WINNING?

Soul winning is art of making convert for Jesus Christ through evangelism. The true meaning of soul winning has been misconstrued by many Christians. Many people see soul winning as persuading people to become Christians. According to the scripture, We are responsible to witness, and God draws people to Himself.

According the great commission, Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 28vs18-20, 'Matt.28.18 - And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Matt.28.19 - Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Matt.28.20 - Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Jesus command them to teach and make disciples of many nations, baptizing them and He promised His ever abiding presence. In Act 1vs8, Acts.1.8 - But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Soul winning is our responsibility to witness christ, the holy spirit takes it from there and convict the heart.

WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES ABOUT SOUL WINNING

Soul winning is backed by a lot of scriptures:

Proverbs 11:30 “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.”

Matthew 10:7 “And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

Luke 14:23 “And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”

Luke 15:10 “Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.”

Acts 22:15 “For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.”

Ezekiel 33:8 “When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.”

It is a command

Jesus commanded us to win souls. Soul winning is not an option. It is not a spiritual gift. It is not a church growth program. It is a clear, unequivocal, unavoidable command of God.

To encourage Believers

When I go for soul winning, I fill fulfilled. Giving this testimony makes other believers encourages. Iron sharpenth iron, so the scripture opines.

To glorify God

When a soul is won, there is joy in heaven and the name of God is glorified. John 15:8 says:“Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”

It demonstrates God's love

By knowing God’s love for us, we know how to love others and that motivates us to share the love of God with them so that they can experience God’s fullness.

To receive easy answers to Prayers

Answers to your prayers become very easy when you’re a soul winner. This is because Christ said that if you bear fruit that remains, you will receive whatever you ask of the Father in His name (John 15:16). So, soul winning is a speedy way to receive your heart desires from God. This is because, when you please God, He will open His hands and bless you greatly.

To increase growth in God's kingdom

The scriptures tell us that in the multitude of men is a King honoured (Proverbs 14:28). Also, God commands that we should go out and gather people so that His house will fill up (Luke 14:23). This results in a population of God’s kingdom while the kingdom of darkness is depopulated.

God expects His house to be full, and not the streets or joints of the enemy. That’s why He works with soul winners, adding to the church as many as to be saved (Acts 2:47).

Therefore, always pray for the unsaved souls and reach out to them so they can dwell in the house of God.

To increase in wisdom

The scriptures tell us that he that wins souls is wise and those who win souls will shine like stars (Proverbs 11:30, Daniel 12:3). Therefore, soul winners build up their wisdom banks as they reach out to souls for Christ. This is because it takes wisdom from heaven to lead people to Christ. Also, since they’re working with the only wise God, they can’t help but become wiser.

Soul winning is rewarding

God is a rewarded of them that diligently seek him. The is joy over a sinner who repents and comes to God.

HOW TO WIN SOULS

Soul winning is the holy spirit's business, we are just instruments.
