Khalid-bin-Waleed
The young boy's name was Khalid. His father's name was Waleed who was a great warrior. Khalid belonged to Makhzoom, a small tribe of Quraysh. At that time the Quraysh family was very popular in Arabia. Khalid was born in the famous city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The chief of the Quraysh tribe was Abu Sufyan. Considering his fighting skills and intelligence, Abu Sufyan made Khalid the commander of his army.
At that time the number of Muslims was negligible. In Medina, Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) had converted more than a hundred people to Islam. When Abu Sufyan, the chief of the Quraysh, saw that people of different tribes were converting to Islam, he decided to fight the Muslims. He feared that if the Muslims increased in number, it would be difficult to fight them. Abu Sufyan began preparations for war. The leader of the Muslims was Hazrat Muhammad (Pbuh). Abu Sufyan, the chief of the Quraysh, sent a message inviting Muhammad (Pbuh) to fight. But Muhammad (Pbuh), the chief of Makkah, did not want to fight in the open because the Muslims were few in number and did not have the equipment to fight. Muhammad's (Pbuh) uncle suggested fighting the Quraysh outside Madinah.
The Quraysh formed an army of three thousand led by Abu Sufyan. The Quraysh army had three commanders and one commander was Khalid. The Quraysh army started marching towards Madinah. Khalid was a fierce enemy of the Muslims. Medina is about four hundred and fifty kilometers from Mecca and it was not easy to travel in the deserts of Arabia but the Quraysh army marched towards Mecca with enthusiasm. Actually, there was revenge behind the enthusiasm of the Quraysh because the Muslims had defeated the Quraysh so badly in the Battle of Badr.
Khalid was waiting for war and he wanted to avenge his family by shedding the blood of Muslims. Khalid would pull the reins of the horse hard again and again, maybe he was thirsty for blood. Quraysh and Muslims came face to face at the foot of Mount Uhud, eight kilometers away from Medina. Khalid raised his sword and charged into the Muslim army. Khalid's aim was to attack the leader of the Muslims. But on the other hand Hazrat Ali was destroying the army of Quraysh. In the Battle of Uhud, when the Quraysh spread the news that the Muslim leader had been eliminated, the morale of the Muslims was depressed. This news made Khalid very happy because this is what he wanted.
Khalid went to the foot of the hill with a few brave warriors. Khalid was an expert in war strategy. A Muslim warrior stood on top of a hill and shouted loudly that our leader Muhammad (Pbuh) is alive, and this news made Khalid furious. Khalid's eyes caught sight of Muhammad and he started climbing the mountain in a state of anger. But the Muslims started shooting arrows at Khalid and his companions. Khalid began to descend the hill because he could no longer stop the incoming arrows. Khalid wanted to exterminate the Muslims with more companions, but he could not refuse the orders of his clan chief.
Most of the men of the Quraysh army were wounded, that is why the Quraysh chief Abu Sufyan announced the end of the war. But in this battle seventy Muslims were killed. And thirty soldiers of Quraysh. Khalid was not satisfied with the decision of Abu Sufyan because he wanted to destroy the name and mark of Muslims. But he could not do anything because he had to obey the decision of the Quraysh chief. The Quraysh army reached Makkah. This battle is called the Battle of Uhud.
After that, Abu Asfyan, the chief of Quraish, secretly expressed his intention to attack the Muslims. But this news came to the Muslims and they dug a deep trench around the city of Madinah before the battle. Khalid was surprised by the plans of the Muslims, who would tell them such tricks. The Quraysh army returned to Makkah without a fight because they could not cross the trench. This was the second time that Khalid had returned without accomplishing his purpose. He hated his chief's plans.
One day Muhammad (Pbuh), the leader of the Muslims, sent a letter to Khalid in which these words were written "I don't understand why a sensible man like Khalid has not converted to Islam yet. If you join our army, we will give you position and full respect". This letter impressed Khalid. Actually Khalid also did not fully believe in his faith, he was always influenced by Muslims. Khalid prepared his horse and started towards Madinah. He wants to see what is the attraction in the religion of Islam that is pulling people. He had killed many Muslims in different wars and he could hear the screams of those killed Muslims in his mind.
He was riding a high-bred Arabian horse that was galloping across the sand dunes. On the way he met two horsemen who were traveling to Madinah with the intention of converting to Islam. Now the destination of these three was one. When Khalid reached the streets of Madinah, people were looking at him with the eyes of an enemy because people did not know what he had come here to do. Khalid went to Muhammad (Pbuh), the leader of the Muslims, and accepted the religion of Islam. After that, Khalid had completely changed. Islam spread rapidly. After some time Khalid's tribe also converted to Islam.
The Muslims increased in number day by day and this news reached the royal throne of Syria. The Romans and the Syrians got together and declared war against the Muslims. Khalid was the commander of the Muslim army. This battle took place near the Yarmouk River near Syria, in which Khalid proved himself as a formidable warrior. The number of the Roman army was one hundred thousand and the number of Muslims was three thousand. During this battle, Khalid broke eight of his swords. When Rumi asked Khalid, the leader of the Roman army, what do you want, Khalid said historical words "I like romaine blood because I hear romaine blood is very sweet".
Khalid loved to fight against enemies from his childhood, he used to fight without any fear. Khalid used to say that more dear to me than my wedding night is the night when I wait for the army of enemies in winter. When a Muslim warrior told Khalid the number of the Romans, Khalid said that "victory is not based on numbers, but with the help of Allah". He was such a person who considered the battlefield as his game
Khalid's name was feared everywhere. Khalid destroyed the Persian and Roman empires. He conquered Armenia, Jordan, Iraq, Syria and many other countries.

Death
Khalid had fever for a long time and passed away. Khalid was sixty years old at the time of his death. It was Khalid's wish to be martyred in the war, but perhaps martyrdom was not in his destiny. Khalid spoke inspiring words before his death. "Give this my message to the cowards. If death had come on the battlefield, Khalid would not have died in bed. No one can live beyond the time and no one can die before the appointed time. The tomb of Khalid bin Waleed is in Syria, Khalid ibn waleed mosque.
I have learned something from Khalid's life
From Khalid's life I have learned that we should not hesitate to sacrifice our lives for the sake of our faith and religion. If our belief is not correct, our soul will not get strength. Actually, our true identity is our faith. Belief and faith is the spiritual strength of every human being.
