10TH ARTICLE IN THE MONTH.

I was on my way out yesterday morning when this topic dropped on my heart. PEACE. I feel this is a very important topic for discussion considering the present situation in the world. What is peace? According to the dictionary, peace is a state free of oppressive and unpleasant thoughts and emotions. Where do we need peace?

Family

Peace is important in a home. Between the husband and the wife, among siblings, between children and parents. When there is peace in the family, it will make the husband to always want to be with his wife. When there is peace in the home, it will make children to discuss their plans with the parents without keeping anything secret thereby leading to reduction in crimes. Peace among family members will make things go well with everyone. They will always be happy. When everyone in the family is thinking about peace, there won't be problem.

Religious gatherings

God in heaven desires that we follow peace with all men. Peace in religious gatherings fosters unity. If there is peace and there is no form of strife for position or anything, our prayers will be quickly answered by God. It will make communication with God easier. Our hearts will be free of all guilt.

Communities

Early last year, war broke out between two communities. Everyone of us left the town for other places. Even schools were closed and everywhere was scanty until peace was restored. During the fight, many innocent people were killed properties were destroyed both personal and government properties. The economy of the community was affected as people could not farm leading to food scarcity. So, when there is no peace between two or more communities, things will not go the way it is supposed to. Academic activities with be disturbed and people's hearts will not be at rest.

State

Peace is also important in a state. Imagine some states are in conflict, there won't be easy movement without fear. Everyone will watch one another's back even when it might have been settled. It will lead to unnecessary suspicion. Travellers will not be able to travel to avoid being mistaken for an enemy. Conflict hinders growth and development of a state but peace makes way for progress.

Country

A country consists of different tribes. There should be peaceful coexistence. There should be understanding of one another's culture because only understanding can make different tribes to live together in peace.

World

The first and second world war are perfect examples of the world without peace. It led to loss of lives, properties, parents, children and family members. There'll be stagnancy and unfruitfulness.

School

Effective and productive teaching and learning can never take place in an atmosphere that lacks peace. Whenever students cause trouble in higher institutions, they are asked to go home. When everyone's mind is settled, they are called back. There should be peace between the heads of schools and teachers.

In short, there is no place that does not need peace even in our personal lives.
