the Grace that completes the family

In a small town, there lived a religious couple. The man named Roy and the woman named Eugene. Roy is a lay minister and Eugene become an active member of a religious community in the church. They always pray for the rosary in the morning, as part of their daily routine. When they had their first born, it was a girl. Since they are so religious and praying the rosary everyday, they named their first born Mary Ann,came from the name of Mary in the Bible, it was supposed to be Maria Anna but the husband refuses for it is such an old name. So, they both agreed to named their first born, Mary Ann. Roy is a carpenter, he has been doing carpentry since he was young and wanted to have a son to pass on his skills and tools in carpentry. Eugene on the other side is a full time house wife. They live a simple life yet they are happy along with their daughter Mary Ann. Three years later, they had their second born, it was a boy. This child is an answered prayer for Roy, since he always pray for a son to become an heir of his carpentry skills and tools. Because it's a boy they name him Joseph, the husband of Mary in the Bible. Joseph and Mary Ann become a blessings to the family. A bundle of joy that spread so much happiness for Eugene and Roy. A year pass when Joseph arrive in the family another blessing had come. Another baby girl, they named her Mary Jane, supposed to be Maria Juana, but then again they agreed to make it English rather than native. Mary Jane is such a brave girl, she don't cry often and don't need so much attention. She is contented when her older sister taking care of her. Joseph on the other side is always out in the house. Eugene and Roy always had hard time looking for him. He is always spending time in the neighborhood to play. One time Eugene reprimanded him and asked him why he is always out of the house when he can just stay and play with his siblings instead of going out to the neighborhood. Joseph told her that he wanted a boy playmate and don't want to play with his two sisters. Joseph insisted to have a baby brother in order for him to have someone to play with.

That night Eugene talked to her husband what had Joseph wanted, a baby brother. They are not sure that they could give what Joseph wish, because Eugene that time is in her mid forties. They prayed for it and three years later Eugene got pregnant. Within those three years Joseph is so much of a headache. He doesn't want any toys but wish of baby brother. When he had known his mother is pregnant Joseph was very happy and never gone to neighborhood again. He stays with his mother and play with her bump. Waiting for his baby brother to go out. He never became a headache for his parents anymore and behave the best he could.

When the time of the labor had come he always asked his father if his brother already came out, but sad to say it was a baby girl. Eugene don't know how to explained to Joseph who is so excited, but she chose to tell him because sooner or later he would know.

"Son, it wasn't a baby brother, it is a baby sister."

"Where is baby brother mom? He did not come out yet?"

Eugene don't know if she will laugh to his son's innocence or feel pity.

"No son, there is nothing there anymore, it came out and it's a baby sister."

Hurriedly Joseph run to the new born baby and observe her keenly. With anxiousness Eugene was waiting to his son's response, being quit for a few moments. After a while Joseph broke a loud laughter.

" Hahahaha, your kidding me mom, it is a boy, look it has a mustaches".

Shocked to what her son had said she immediately check on it and it's true. Her fourth born, a baby girl has a mustaches. Thus making Joseph believe it was a baby brother. Because Joseph didn't go out to play with the neighborhood and behave himself, they believe the baby was a blessing. Not just that, they couldn't believe that Eugene will bare child anymore because of her age. Their fourth born is such a blessing thus calling her Mary Grace. They believed that she is a grace from God. The Grace that completes the family.

That's me and how my family started. I am the youngest of four siblings. A siblings of three Mary and a Joseph. (Tres Maria's and a Hosef)

Father and mother decided to name us having the three Mary's in the Bible, Mary mother of Jesus, her cousins Mary Magdalene and Mary Elizabeth and Joseph, Mary's husband.
