Food for the soul: The Pentecost

Happy Sunday everyone. I hope everyone is having a good weekend and able to hear the Gospel of the Lord. Let us always finds rest and comfort in the lord, because we cannot find rest not unless we find rest with the Lord.

Today's article is another food for our soul. The word of God that give life to our soul. Allow me to share this wonderful message to all of you. May your heart open up and listen to his wisdom.

Holy Gospel according to

John 20:19-23

In the evening of that same day, the first day of the week, the doors were closed in the room where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews. Jesus came and stood among them. He said to them, 'Peace be with you,'and, after saying this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were filled with joy at seeing the Lord,and he said to them again, 'Peace be with you. 'As the Father sent me, so am I sending you.'After saying this he breathed on them and said: Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone's sins, they are forgiven; if you retain anyone's sins, they are retained.

Reflection

The gospel today talks about three things, fear, peace and holy spirit. Therefore, I will be reflecting on these things to my life.

Fear

The disciples are afraid that is why they closed the door in the room. They fear that the soldiers might find them after Jesus was crucified.

Just like the disciples, we felt afraid as well. We fear on so many things in life. The unreached dreams and expectations, we fear to fail, we fear about the future, we fear of so many uncertainties of life. And the list goes on and on. To feel fear is normal. To be afraid is normal because we are human being, we have that nature to be afraid. Sometimes it's healthy knowing that we are afraid meaning we acknowledge that we are not powerful enough and we need God, who is in control of everything, in our life. That is why we need to ask him, surrender everything to him.

Peace

As the disciples felt fear towards everything that happened and might happen to them they don't have peace anymore. That is why when God came and stood in the middle, he offer that one thing to they need that very moment, and that's peace. He told them, " peace be with you."

Just like the disciples, we fear and we don't have peace anymore in our life because of that feeling. But this gospel reminded us that we could acquire peace through Christ who offer his peace to all of us. This only means that we could only acquire through peace with the Lord. That is why let us allow Jesus to live in our life so that we could acquire the peace he had given to us.

Holy Spirit

The Lord give the holy spirit to all his disciples, for them to speak any language to their listener to understand. The gift of holy spirit that enables them to spread the goodness of the lord in every human being alive on these earth.

Let us allow ourselves to receive this gift as well. Let us receive the holy spirit through the gospel, through prayers for us to be full of His grace. Let us allow the holy spirit to guide us and empower us to do mission, and that is spreading the good news.

Conclusion

Being a human being it's normal to feel fear but let us not allow fear to control us. Let us surrender everything to the Lord I'm order for us to have peace in mind, body and soul. Within those peace that we found, let us receive the holy spirit, a gift from God, for us to do mission and spread the good news of the father almighty. For us to gather more soul and introduce them to the Lord. For them to not fear and have peace and to receive the holy spirit as well.
