Bumblebees can be extremely beneficial for gardeners because of their pollinating skills. While they are not known for feeding on Aphids themselves, bumblebees have been seen feeding on the secretions of the pests instead of their usual nectar for energy.

That energy in return allows the bees to successfully continue to produce pollen, a protein that is essential for larvae. So while the bumblebee may enjoy the occasional honeydew snack from an Aphid, they will continue to pollinate flowers just as they have in the years before.

The pollination of flowers is extremely vital as it results in greater yields of both vegetable and fruit plants in our gardens. Bumblebees are one of the good guys and the best at doing their job as a pollinator. They are just as essential as the foods we grow in our gardens.

Bumble bees gather the pollen on their back legs and abdomen, then deposit it from flower to flower as they migrate back to their hives.

The pollen is then gathered and converted into food for the bees and their larvae offspring.

The bumble bee is also well known for fending off any intruders that come near their hive and they can keep it cool when the weather is hot by fanning their wings in formation with other members of their colony. Bumblebees are truly a gardener's best friend.
