If you don't take your job seriously as an Entrepreneur you might as well get out of the business because your business will never be a true success.
One of the biggest reasons entrepreneurs fail is because your friends, family, or your next-door neighbor don't understand you are not at home to receive guests. You work. That doorbell isn't going to stop ringing until you lay down the rules and don't answer the door. Your cellphone won't become silent until you mute those calls. It's not an easy task, but it's necessary if you want to take your job seriously and avoid failure.
And don't you dare play the blame game. You are in control of your own life. You can refuse to answer the door, you can put your phone on silent and if absolutely necessary you can make yourself mobile so that you are not disturbed while you work on your business. No one told you to answer the door or your cell phone, so don't blame others for what you can control. Now by all means, if it is an emergency then take care of the situation. But if it's not a real emergency, shouldn't it wait?
The second biggest reason you are failing as an entrepreneur is, time. How much time are you really spending on your business? Your brand? Are you spending several hours checking your email, surfing the web, or checking into your social media accounts? If they are essential to your business, then by all means use them when it's necessary. Just make sure you are not finding yourself using them as a distraction or for hours at a time. It's all too easy to get distracted, especially when you have a mental health disease like ADHD. It's a double whammy. But listen, you have got to stop playing games with yourself. There is a reason why you are not as successful as you want to be working from home.
The third biggest reason you are not successful as an entrepreneur is because your heart just isn't into it. You find the work to be tedious. You dread working on your business. You only decided to become an entrepreneur because you liked the idea of a job where you can sit on your butt all day long in the comfort of your pajamas and make easy money.
That last one is a doozy and if it's you, you are in the wrong line of work sister. Starting any business is hard work. You have got to be willing to put in a lot of hours, you have got to be ahead of everyone else in your niche because if you don't and you think it's all fun and games, you are setting yourself up for failure. Or maybe it's just because you really don't want to be an entrepreneur.
One final note, if you have someone in your life that refuses to acknowledge that you are an entrepreneur and work from home and take no for an answer, raise your hand. I get it, I understand. I have lost track of how many times I have had to explain I'm working without my doorbell constantly ringing during my work hours just because they are bored, or someone insisting I run an errand because they are at work. I have made it a habit of explaining I'll run the errand when I'm not working. And as far as that darn doorbell, throw on a pair of headphones, turn up the music and just pretend you are not home.
