3 Outstanding Moves Towards Building Your Freelance Writing Career

I don't know any freelance writer who doesn't dream of making it to the top. In fact, I've seen more and more writers who are working from home while dreaming of having it all.

As writers, we tend to have a great imagination, which is definitely a big part of being a writer, but when you are writing articles and other non-fiction it's an entirely different world.

It's never as simple submitting your work to a company's blog and suddenly you're a freelance writer. Building a freelance business takes time and definitely a lot of hard work, but with these 3 moves, getting to the top may feel a whole lot easier.

Find a Niche - With so many writers working online to make a living, it's getting harder and harder to stand out from the crowd. Finding a niche is one of the best ways to stay ahead of the competition as a freelance writer. A niche is especially useful if you can become an expert in your chosen niche.

Don't just settle for any niche, however. Find a niche that you are passionate about. If you can't stand sports, you won't give it all your best writing about the subject. Choose a topic that you know you can write and are knowledgeable about!

Showcase Your Freelance Writing - The best way to show potential clients your writing talents is by creating a portfolio for your work.  Invest in a website that will allow you to showcase your best freelance writing.

Then, step into the world of social media, where you can continue showcasing your writing by sharing links of your content to potential clients who are on social media.

Be sure to keep your social media accounts and website updated continuously. Promoting your work as a writer regularly is one of the best ways to succeed in the freelancing world.

Become Outstanding - If you want to become successful in any career, you have to be able to follow through with your word. If you say you will have that article to your client by 5 'o'clock PM Friday, then do it! If you are not meeting your deadlines, why would someone want to hire you when they have their own schedule to keep?

If you must extend your deadline,  do it as soon as possible and not the day your client expects you to submit your work.

However, if your reasons for needing the extra time are based on excuses, your freelance writing dream will never be at the top. If you've got more excuses to throw my way as you are reading this, maybe you need to just stop right where you are.

Stop making excuses and start finding ways to make your success a reality.  Life will always find a way to create a reason why you can't, but if you can stay focused on the end goal, you will continue to stay ahead of everyone else as a freelance writer.

Don't let the little stresses in life like your home internet going down, become a major reason you can't work on your client's article that's due tomorrow morning. Take advantage of getting out of the house and heading to a free wifi hotspot like your local library or coffee shop instead of creating reasons why you can't.

If your goal is to be the best in freelance writing, you have to keep going even when life tries to get in your way!
