Our City Trip to Malaga (Spain)
During the past week we had a city trip to Malaga, Spain. Normally a city trip is with friends without kids, but due to the fact that most of our Holidays were cancelled due to the Covid Pandemic, we decided to take the kids with us.
Our kids are used to Holidays in a all-in hotel with a swimming pool and lots of activities, there are used to the fact that we do have some road trips during these holidays. But this was a complete new experience for them!
Day 1
Day 1 is like always a transportation day. We had the misfortune that our flight had a delay of one hour, but it could have been worse because a lot's of flights had a delay of over 4 hours up to 9 and some were even cancelled.
Waiting on an airport is never lot's of fun and for sure not with a child of 9! Also no fun to keep the face mask on during the complete flight.
But we made it. After landing and collecting out luggage we did pick up our rental car! It was only a short trip from the airport to the center of Malaga, where we did rent an apartment almost next to the Cathedral.
We did reserve a table at the Hard Rock Cafe. Choice of the kids!
After dinner we did make a small walk and it was great to see that lot's of buildings were in Halloween sphere and also most people were dressed up. In Belgium Halloween is nothing so this was a great experience. For sure when sitting on a terrace enjoying some drinks and see all those dressed up people!
Day 2
During day 2, we did stay in Malaga and started of course with some Churros and Chocolate!
It is cheap and tasty. Also make sure that you do eat churros where the locals go. Often this means a better price and better quality!
After breakfast we did climb the Alcazaba!
This do gives you great views over the coast line and the harbors! Also you can see how many cruise ships do touch Malaga.
The rest of the day was just wondering around in Malaga center, some window shopping and lots of food :). Ending the day without the kids, who did stay in the apartment to have a late night drink. (This was just on the other side of the street).
I always try out the local beers. And I must admit that I do like the Gran Reserva from Cruzcampo!
Day 3
Day 3 was a surprise for the kids! We did book tickets for the Champions League game between Sevilla and Lille. So we drove to Sevilla during lunch time and did park the car under the stadium!
During the day we did wander around Sevilla, which is also a great city but can't be compared to Malaga. And of course we did have to visit the place were some shootings were done for Star Wars! Plaza de España
After again some great food it was time to visit the fan shop of Sevilla to be prepared for the game!
Will try to upload the video of the singing of the club song by the complete stadium! Really a great moment!
After the game we did go to eat somewhere because it was too crowded in the parking lot. We did arrive back in the apartment at 2.30 am!
Day 4
Our last full day in Malaga. It was time do something again for the kids after sleeping out! So we went to the beach Malagueta.
While they were playing some football, we were enjoying a beach bar!
We did end the day by going to an outlet store nearby!
Day 5
We had to be at the airport at 5 pm. So we decided to visit Marbella. Not the rich part of the city, but the old part.
Back home we had to turn on the heating. Going from over 20 degrees to below 10 isn't funny, but it was a great trip!
The kids loved it and for sure the Champions League games! Up to the next one :)
Cheers,
Peter
