The fourth generation of games appeared in the period between 1988 and 1991, and during this period 3 game consoles were launched: Sega Genesis, of which 29 million units were sold, Game Boy, of which 118 million units were sold, and Nintendo Super Famicom, of which 49 million units were sold.
These devices included updates on previous games such as Super Mario World and new ones, as well as other games such as Road Rush, the second part of Street Fighter, Sonic and Tekmo Super Bowl.
The fifth generation in the development of games and devices lasted from 1993 to 1999, and the most prominent thing in it is the entry of Sony on the line and its launch of the PlayStation, of which 125 million units were sold, and among the games that appeared this year were Sega Saturn and New Geo CD and the Sega 32K.
In 1996, Nintendo launched the N64 device, and sold 33 million of it. Among the games included in it were Resident Evil"and Crash Bandicoot.Then, the same company launched the Game Boy Color device in 1998, which included games such as Metal Gear Solid. and Zenoggers.
The sixth generation witnessed the entry of the American software giant Microsoft into the world of gaming devices, and in 2001 it launched the Xbox, and in 2005 it launched its second Xbox 360, while Sony introduced the Playstation 3 in 2006, and Nintendo followed it with the Wii In the same year, but exactly 3 days later.
