Driving tips that distinguish a pro from a noob

You would easily be able to notice a difference between a professional driver and an amateur. The differences are minimal but are quite noticeable. Because of his experience, a professional driver treats and drives there cars differently. Beginners might not understand the reasoning behind what the professional is doing at first but as they gain some experience in driving, they will understand. Below are driving tips that differentiate professional drivers from amateurs.

Using bright/ high beams only when necessary

Most drivers round the world drive with high-beams on because the visibility increases if you are using the high-beams. However, using high-beams at night could affect the visibility of the incoming traffic and even pedestrians which can be very dangerous for them as well as for you. A professional on the other hand does consider this whenever he spots a vehicle ahead, in order not to disrupt the coming driver's visibility he/she switches to low beam. Most night accidents are caused by the drivers being blinded by the lights from the incoming vehicles, the light beams should be kept at a moderate level.

Gradual application of breaks

An experienced driver would brake gradually. Hitting the brakes very hard leads to excessive wear and tear in the tyres . A professional driver would slowly apply the breaks when approaching a traffic jam or a red light. It also helps in keeping the break pads intact longer, and prevents a low efficiency in them. Although In some cases a hard breaking is needed but it should be done with caution has a hard break in some gear could cause the car to flip or tumble over, it could also cause a change in the direction of the vehicle and eventually an accident.

Riding the clutch

Riding the clutch means keeping your foot on the clutch pedal while driving. Riding the clutch causes excessive wear and tear of the clutch as well as damage to the gearbox. First time drivers often use the clutch as a footrest or simply forget to lift their legs off the clutch. Some automobile manufacturers create dead pedals for your left foot to rest on. There are also some market options if your car does not come with a dead pedal. The clutch is strictly used for changing gear levels in manual vehicles and should be discarded after every change.

Using the gear has an arm rest

Many drivers have an habit of holding the gear lever while driving. If you keep applying force on the gear lever, it can damage the transmission in the gear in the long run. Also, both hands should be on the steering wheel so that you have full control of your steering wheel. A professional would only keep his hand on the gear lever while changing the gear and then put his hand back on the steering wheel or sometimes on an arm rest depending on the vehicles. For beginners two hands on the wheels is very important. Mistakes are commonly made by amateurs that choose to hold on to the lever, the risks of changing the gear wrongly during a panic is very high.

Use all rearview mirrors or camera

A professional driver would always keep checking his surroundings because it is very important to be aware of other vehicles and pedestrians around in case of a sudden movement, you might also want to watch out for crossing animals . Before driving the position of the mirrors should be duly noted and confirmed that it is suitable for the driver. Closing the side mirrors in fear of it being crushed would only put you in danger of being involved in an accident. The mirrors should be put to use while taking a reverse this helps to widen your visibility range instead of the traditional viewing from above the head rest, which put you at risk of losing control of the steering wheel.

The heavy head lamp lights catches my attention more. It's quite unprofessional to see drivers putting on their headlamps too full that it easily blind whoever is driving opposite them.

There are those long-time drivers who still do the mistake of keeping their lights too bright even when they see someone coming. My husband often gets annoyed with those kinds of drivers
