New year and change
A friend said he would start to change, later, right after the first burst of these new year's fireworks went off. When the boisterous trumpets are sounded in the middle of the New Year's Eve. When people shout “HAPPY NEW YEAR!”, when they cheer, jump, hug. Or maybe, when some people are more comfortable renting a hotel and spending the new year as a couple. That's when my friend will change. Thus the promise.
I smirked then. Do you have to wait for the new year to change? Sometimes we answer: YES. It takes moments, like we need stepping stones to jump. However, it doesn't have to be always.
Those who are wise don't need momentum to change. Every second is their momentum to change. Once they realize that something is wrong, they will continue to make changes. And so on, until everything goes near perfect.
Actually, change is a must. Aren't we often reminded, "those who today are the same as yesterday, are those who lose." Supposedly, every day is always more for all of us.
Why are we lazy to change?
Sometimes we get so arrogant. Arrogant to realize all our weaknesses. Haughty to know all our shortcomings. We know we are wrong, grow weaker, but refuse to act in a better direction.
It could all start from our laziness. We are lazy to move to rush towards goodness. Even when there are so many sounds, we still become deaf to hear them. Comfort in ugliness makes us reluctant to act immediately.
It doesn't matter if we make plans for the year ahead. Even those who are wise try to organize their lives at least in the next ten years, how will they go through it. Build a civilization from the rest of their lives, with full understanding, that it takes careful planning for something big.
But friends, you don't need a new year to change. Because, every second, for those who think ahead, will try to be better.
Have you prepared your prayers for the year ahead? Setting up plans for all the dreams we write down? Preparing all the way to goodness?
Hopefully, in 2023 we will be better. Become a new figure. Leaving all the ignorance that has happened in previous years. Close all bad books. And always pray to God that he will illuminate our path.
Whatever year you've been through friends, never forget the figure of God. Don't be arrogant, as if we can do anything without Him. Because, arrogance, is the worst attitude and humiliation.
Those who are wise don't need a new year to change.
