Between wants and needs

There really isn't enough of everything in this world. If you are rich, you want to be richer, you are beautiful, you want to be more beautiful, you are already on the throne, you want to be in power, you already have a husband or wife who are good and responsible, you want more, even if you are destined to be a woman or a man, you want the opposite.

Actually the fault lies not in these desires. Wanting to be more than what we have right now is very good, especially if that desire can be a motivation for oneself to keep going and trying.

These desires to be more will be a mistake if you are willing to do anything to make those desires come true, especially if you want this but don't want to be tired, don't want to try.

The fulfillment of this desire is sometimes misinterpreted as a fulfillment of needs. Wants are already on the same level as needs. That means some people start to think, can or not, able or not, the desire must be fulfilled at any cost.

The difference is the level of desire of each individual, in the sense that the desire of a subordinate is certainly different from that of a superior, the desire of an angkot driver is certainly different from that of the owner of the angkot. The question is whether these differences in levels affect the process of fulfilling these desires?

I think the answer is no. If the leader can't control his inner desires, he will definitely try to do anything to get it even in a bad way, or sacrifice anyone around him.

Likewise with the subordinate, if the desire in him is very encouraging to be fulfilled then he is able to do anything, including cheating on the workplace that has been providing him with income.

We must always remember that wants are different from needs. Clothing is a primary need for all humans, but it will be a desire if the clothing must be branded A or must be made of certain materials. Food is a necessity but can become a desire if the type of food must be B, served with luxurious equipment, and so on.

Likewise with boards, a need that will also become a desire if the house must be large, luxurious, and the furniture must be complete. Even an education that is clearly a need can become a desire if the education must be abroad, must be in expensive schools, and so on.

Many forget that the desire should be directly proportional to the effort. What is often a problem is, when someone wants a lot but the effort is not there. Want to work with standard tasks, but want a wow income. Want to be successful but don't want to work hard. I want to succeed but I don't want to fail.

That's where dirty ways usually start to come to mind, especially if they are not accompanied by a strong enough belief, regardless of religion.

If many of our desires have not been achieved, try asking each other. Have we balanced the efforts we do with the desires we have? Wouldn't it be a shame if our desires were so high when our brethren in other places might very much want to be where we are today?

Whoever we are, whatever our position, whatever our condition, be a human who is always grateful. Look at our brothers and sisters who may be far below us, because they may have a happier life.

If we are a superior, be a wise leader who does not oppress, if we are a subordinate, be an honest and trustworthy worker. Stop measuring everything from the material side, because life is not just collecting as much wealth as possible.

Cherish the remaining life we still have by sharing love with others. Be a pleasant person, try to share happiness with others, then happiness for us will definitely come.
