Greeting

Greeting is an act that is shown among different people, groups, communities and even countries based on their culture or way of life.

This is one of the cherished attitudes of society that any one found of doing is mostly thought of as a cultured or well mannered individual.

Greeting they say, has a whole lots of importance,merits or advantages whereas not greeting is also bad.

Greeting as already said depends on the group of people who practice it.Some common postures or ways people greet include;waving, shaking hands, bowing down, raising hands up ( at far distance to each other ), nodding of hands, thumps up and a whole lot.

Some greetings are not welcomed when it is to an elderly person but otherwise,all are applicable to your friends and love ones

A short scene of how greeting occur

When a teenager or an individual is walking and meets an elderly person, the individual is supposed to greet the elderly person first.

To greet, you have to make sure your appearance shows a depick submission. Firstly,you check if you have a cap. You remove it as soon a possible.Sometimes you correct you style of walking.

The teenager then greet based on the recognized manner or way. For English speaking communities,the individual greets based on the time say, Good morning sir or madam. The elderly person responds and usually asks of your health as done always.The individual responds and they continue their movement.But sometimes, a conversation can begin

For age mates, any of them can start with the greeting and they don’t usually ask for the welfare of the other and they use the right hand in greeting. This is a very simple but highly respected act and as such a lot of people must practice it.

Some importance or merits of greetings are;

It initiates conversations:Sometimes, in asking for a favour from someone or tell someone a piece of information, greeting is very necessary. You may not get the favour you want if you don’t like greeting elders. In case of asking someone for something it will be very difficult to get that particular thing if in the process you don’t begin with greeting.

It removes us from danger ahead of us.: Many are the things that happens at various places based on time. Greeting is really of essence here since we might not know what is ahead of us but showing an act can help us get disclosed to such information and save ourselves

It helps a person when he or she is lost: Sometimes,we find ourselves at places where we are not familiar with and can’t get back home.With greeting, we can get back home by greeting and asking people of that particular community for directions around in other to get back home safely.

A group of students were going for an excursion at some place. They went in badges hence were on their own . The first badge of people were going and at a specific place they came in to meet an elderly woman who was doing something. They never bothered to ask or greet her but rather looked at what they wanted and chose a path. Most badges did same but the last badge greeted and asked when they saw the elderly woman.

They were given a direction different from the one all the other students passed and they were the only successful group. The others were lost in the middle of a huge forest and were stranded .

This is a clear indication of the importance of greetings. Always greet no matter the person you see . It takes not much time to do so..

It is there advisable to greet all people whether we know them or not and must be done properly.
