The Karbala incident happened because there was no compromise on the Islamic caliphate. The events of Karbala teach us to fight uncompromisingly against injustice and untruth.
Worship: In the early days of Islam, fasting of Ashura was obligatory. If the fast of Ramadan is made obligatory in the second year of Hijri, then the fast of Ashura is considered optional. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) instructed us to fast on the day of Ashura. Narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah, the Companion who narrated the most hadith, he said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said that the best fast after Ramadan is the fast of Muharram and the best prayer after Farz is the prayer of Tahajjud. (Sahih Muslim 1/356). Almost all books of hadith contain multiple hadiths about the virtues of the month of Muharram and the fast of Ashura. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Because of fasting on the day of Ashura, Allaah forgives the sins of His slaves for the past one year. (Sahih Muslim 1172). Hafez Ibn Hajar Asqalani, a renowned scholar of Hadith, has narrated the narration of Hazrat Ibn Abbas, so that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, may say: Fast on the day of Ashura. However, in order not to be in harmony with the Jews, it is necessary to observe the fast on the day before or the day after. (Tirmidhi 855).
