My sister and her husband are at their cabin in Maryland. This morning she was in her kitchen when an unknown visitor decided to greet them. Do you see the snake ? I would have freaked out. Have you ever had a snake get in your home ?

oh my! hopefully it wasn't poisonous. Maybe the area used to be their home that's why they are still there . I'm curious how they caught it. Did your brother in law kill it? That is usually the instinct if you see a snake you will try to smack it and this one is a bit big.
gosh. we dont usually get visited by snakes. only when the cats bring them home hahah

Hard to tell what species it is from the photos, but possibly a plain-bellied water snake? They have quite the reputation for being jerks in the field herping Facebook group I'm in. You know my reaction would just be "Welp, we have a new roommate now. Guess I need to defrost another mouse." 🤷♀️
