Last Wish

It's saturday morning, the most awaited day of Catherine. The church and reception venues are ready. The color theme of the wedding is blue which is the favorite color of Catherine, the bride.

Everyone's are busy preparing and getting ready for the wedding, Catherine is having a mixed emotion while staying at the girl's dressing room. She don't know if she wants to cry or jump because of happiness for this is her dream since she was young, to get married to someone she really loves.

The right time has come, Catherine's bridal car finally arrives at the church. The church' door slowly opened with Catherine standing outside of it. Until everyone finally saw the bride and most of them started crying. Catherine looks so beautiful with her bridal gown while holding a boquet of her favorite flowers together with her angelic face. His soon to be husband is standing at the front, with tears on his eyes while staring at her as she walks slowly down the aisle.

Catherine's mother and her friends are in tears as they're finally declared as husband and wife. Catherine looks so happy with his husband named Paul while they're standing at the front. Everyone started taking photos and videos of them getting married. After a few minutes, it's time for taking pictures of them together with the whole family and relatives with their hired photographers.

As the guests starting to come in the front, Catherine looked around and saw the friends of his husband congratulating her from a not so far seat. She smiled at them until she saw someone standing behind her husband's friends. It was smiling at her with a teary eyes. But his husband told her to look on the camera as the photographer was about to say the "3, 2, 1" *clicked*.

After that, she immediately looked at the spot again where he saw the guy but it's not there anymore.

Everything went well and fun at the reception venue. Until a guy approached one of the caterers who is standing in front of the foods and told him, "Can you please say to the bride later to check Francis' stuff after this?", the caterer agreed to it and the guy thanked him and walked away, the caterer realized that he forgot to ask the guy's name but it's too late as it gone too fast.

After the party, the caterer finally had a chance to approach Catherine and said to her what the guy told him who he thought to be one of the guests. Catherine suddenly stopped from what she's doing and looked around. The caterer asked her, "Are you okay ma'am?" but after a few seconds, Catherine answered him she's okay.

A day after getting married, Catherine is preparing her things for their out of town honeymoon when she decided to do what the caterer told her last night since it was already stucked in her mind. She went to the her storage room and find her ex's stuffs. Until she found it, it's a big box containing all the arts, books and some clothes of Francis, her first boyfriend.

It's been 6 years since she last opened this box for it will just hurt her whenever she sees her ex' special things. She's the one who arranged and kept all those things before that's why she's wondering why the caterer told her to check her ex stuffs though she already knew what's inside of it. Until she saw a book, this was Francis' favorite book to read when he was staying in the hospital. Francis was the first love of Catherine, they met during their college years and promised each other that they will finish college together and will marry each other one day but Francis didn't make it. Five months before their graduation, Francis was diagnosed with bone cancer. And in 5 months of battling to it, his cancer won.

1 week after Francis' burial, Catherine graduated from her course Fine Arts. It was only her who made it there. Catherine started crying as she remembered Francis and the time when she was crying while walking towards the stage to claim her diploma without Francis by her side anymore.

She opened the book and was shocked that there is a letter inside it. She read it while crying.

Hi love,

Maybe you already have someone with you now, I'm sorry if I didn't fulfill what I promised you before, to graduate and get married. But since I know I will never be able to fulfill that, my last wish now while I am still alive is that, may you find a man who can be with you and will fulfill your dream of getting married. I'm sure I'm already gone at that time so I'll just leave this letter here in my book, so one day, you will know that the only thing I wish that would definitely make me happy too before I leave, is to see you smile and be happy again, not because of me but with someone who'll love you the same way I do.

I have no other wish but your happiness my love :)

Francis wrote this letter 2 weeks before he died. After that, he never leave Catherine until she get married. He guided Catherine until she finds the man that will truly love her. Francis appeared to Cath on her wedding as it's his last goodbye to her.
