Assalamu Alaikum.....
Hope you all are doing well and leading a healthy life.
Today I am going to share something about the Hajj (one of the 5th pillars in Islamic faith).
This year Hajj is quite different from the previous years. Due to COVID-19 pandemic the Saudi government hasn't allowed any country to perform hajj. Only the native countrymen and the foreigners living there permanently are eligible for this year.
Around 25 lacs people performed Hajj in 1920; but this year only 1000 people. The Saudi government strictly following the social distancing rule.
The restriction of performing Hajj isn't happening for the first time. Disease, war and politics have altered Hajj to Mecca throughout history. Histories that can be mentioned:
Armed Conflicts (930 AD)
Political disputes (983-991 AD)
Diseases (due to Plague 967 AD)
Drought and Famine (Fatimid ruler cancelled overland Hajj routes in A.D. 1048)
We pray to the Almighty Allah for healing the world and give scope to every Muslim for performing the Hajj at least for one time in life.
This is really informative, I know its importants in the Muslim community mostly because of my friends. It's sad to see how far the effects of the Covid-19 virus has distorted even religious events
