There's something the elites in Nigeria are known for and that is when their sins are about to be exposed and becomes national news, they bring up something, a distraction for the front pages of newspapers and their sins are temporarily neglected, giving them time to sweep it under the rug. When the Kyari issue started, after being declared wanted by the FBI, it was the front page news for a while until other dramas came up that made it to be temporarily forgotten and the process to sweep it all under the rug started, but then his village people were having none of it, so they struck him again.

Since he has been in the custody of the NDLEA, the issue of extraditing him to the United States to face the charges brought against him by the FBI has taken the forefront again. A lot of people here would give anything to see him extradited and this is a reflection of the confidence that people have come to have in the Nigeria justice system. Something about being in the spotlight in Nigeria is that all your sins past are brought to the fore and as a result, we have come to learn that over the many illustrious years of his police career, there has been tons of complaints and petitions against Mr Kyari and his team, petitions that were clearly ignored and covered up.

The audacity with which he went to negotiate a bribe for an international drug ring while he was supposed to be suspended and under investigation is testament to a culture of institutionalised corruption and malfeasance amongst security agencies. To think that he will be so confident as to use the same phone and the same whatsapp through which the FBI made his connection to Mr Hushpuppi to still negotiate a bribe clearly shows his confidence in the knowledge that nothing will happen to him, and that testifies to the fact that he's not alone in this, hence he feels safe in knowing that he'll be protected by his partners and cohorts who are clearly people in high places.

This clearly shows a culture of up to down corruption in the Nigeria police force and other security agencies, because Mr Kyari made no attempts to mask his activities, almost like he knew for a certainty that the officer was going to accept the bribe, because probably from his experience, they are all same and corrupt like him.

There are those who claim today, and reasonably so, that Mr Kyari was never a super cop. He was just a mediocre cop (as witness by his inability to recognise that his, phone was no longer secure enough for his illegal ventures) promoted to a national star by his fellow actors who needed him to symbolise justice and it's quick dispensation, so as to mask their illegal activities. This very status that made him the perfect cover for their illegal activities, also makes him their failsafe button in situations like this. Due to his star status, everyone will be focused on him forgetting that the atrocities that he has committed are things he couldn't have kept doing and kept hidden without the help of associates in high places. People with this line of thought believe that the renewed questions about extraditing him is an effort to get rid of him and letting the Americans help them clean their mess and nip the coming storm in the bud. This line of thought totally makes sense. I won't be surprised if he's extradited soon.

Like I've stated before, a lot of people would like to see him extradited, for the sole reason that the american justice system doesn't allow room for manipulation of the court of dispensation of justice. This shows the lack of faith in the Nigeria Judicial system and rightly so, as we have seen again and again, how justice have been perverted and diverted for the benefit of the elite and corrupt. There's the fear that Mr Kyari's friends in high places will always able to reach and wrangle him out as long as he remains in Nigeria, and we have seen this done time and again with corrupt politicians and official of governments.

But again, this publicity is bad for these illegal actors, hence it remains to be see what they choose to do with Mr Kyari and the mess he has created for them. The question of what the police are doing or will do about the situation also comes up. This is a rare opportunity for a complete and thorough cleansing of the police force, but considering Mr Kyari's associates probably includes a lot of high-ranking police officers, I don't see anything other than an elaborate cover-up scheme coming from the police force. At the end of the day, the only head that will probably roll will be that of Mr Kyari( probably none at all). Such is the country I live in.

Thanks for your time.. I hope you enjoyed the article

Yes, I liked your article. I wish in my country Venezuela was behind bars extradited to the United States all the high government officials, starting with the dictator president that sadly we have. This government turned my country into a big nest of corrupt and drug traffickers. I understand perfectly what you describe about your country Nigeria.
