Double Standards

Just like we have thieves, drug addicts and people who do a lot of things that they have no control over, we also have those who have double standard.

The Oxford dictionary defines this word as "a rule or principle which is unfairly applied in different ways to different people or groups".

I really don't want to make excuses for those who are guilty of this act, but when people do things a lot, they don't know when it becomes their lifestyle and with a few more attempts, they can't do without it. It's usually easy to tell people rules that you don't keep yourself so I guess this is why people often engage in it.

The government is not left out of this double standard especially in my country. Elections are forth coming and they say a lot of things to cajole the poor masses and the weak to their sides and end up doing the direct opposite at the end of the day. Makes me wonder how we are supposed to grow as a people when these levels of deceit keep multiplying on the go.

The relationship environment is not left out either. Spouses expect a certain level of respect from their loved one that they don't reciprocate. Not just respect, love, care, emotional expressions and lots more.

Does Double Standard Benefit?

I am yet to see anything good come out from being here and there and nowhere in particular. It should be shunned and frowned upon by the society but no one would frown on what we are all guilty of.

Most couples keep wondering what causes the rifts that they experience but then things like this are mostly to blame. A man who claims not to like it when his wife carries his bag allows another woman do same and expects that his wife is happy. This doesn't follow, at all!

The religious sector is not left out as Christians are also culprits of having double standards. They study the Bible and teach it but do the direct opposite of what the Bible teaches them most times. The church which is supposed to be void of things of the world has it embedded in them cos man has refused to see reasons why they must stand for one thing alone else they stand for nothing.

Double standard is not smartness or but deceit, it does not in anyway reflect wisdom but is hypocritic in nature and anyone engaged in such has no right to be respected but shames for their wrong stance.

Conclusion

It's better to come clean and be who one is than take to deceit. In the end, the truth will come out cos nothing can be hidden under the sun for eternity.
