Be Grateful

In a world where the odds seem to be stacked against us and everything seem to be working against us, it's almost impossible to find things to be grateful for.

As human beings, we inherently desire a certain level of comfort, we have goals and aspirations that we would like to achieve. All of our lives works is usually directed towards achieving these things. But in a world with massively depleted and limited resources ( thanks to man's unabating exploitative way of life), there's just not enough to go around for all our needs, wants and desires to be met. In a system like that, the fittest always gets the resources being competed for, whether by right or by force.

Interestingly, 'the fittest' are the minority. This leads to a situation where the majority is left unsatisfied. This eventually express itself in the form of frustration, depression, anger, complaining etc.

The level of struggle for resources is quite dependent on where you find yourself. For some, like those born in certain Africa countries and certain parts of Western countries, everything is competed for. For these kind of people, complaining is a way of life as they are constantly deprived of even the most basic needs of life.

Nowadays, we tend to not find anything to be grateful for. This is encouraged by the rise of affluent display of wealth online and offline. This usually causes us to start comparing ourselves with people living way above our means. Instead of us seeing the things we have and can favourably compete for (which will cause us to be grateful to whatever one believes in), all we see is what we don't have nor does it seem like we'll be able to compete for favourably. In our pursuit of these lofty and luxury things, we stop short of seeing the little things and everyday miracles we ought to be thankful for.

I'm going to use myself as a classical example. I've been on read.cash for almost two months now. For the first month, I was earning a decent amount, but for the last month, I've been earning little to nothing. Now, I've been whining and complaining about it to my friends, but when I was earning decently, I didn't use the same energy to praise the platform. It was almost like I felt earning that way should be the normal, except we all know that's not true.

Just like me there, we get so used to having our desires met that we begin to consider it the norm, the expected and when that's not the case, we see a deviation. Because of this, even when things are going well for us, we tend not to be especially grateful, but when it's not we cry blood and sweat and start complaining here and there.

The sad part about it all is that complaining has never helped or bettered anybody's situation ever. But it's both a written and unwritten law in nature, society and religion that, if you're grateful for the little things, better things will come, and if you're grateful for the better things, great things will come. We all ought to learn how to be grateful and appreciative of all the little favor, kindness and miracles we receive everyday.

Another reason why you should choose a spirit of gratitude over a habit of complaining is that, complaining naturally makes you a less happy person, as your mind is constantly filled with negative emotions. A grateful heart on the other hand is always filled with a certain level of joy and happiness. This makes for a better quality of life.

Conclusion

In our world today, it can easily seem like you have nothing to be grateful for, but that's not true. All you need to do is really look around you, look for the small things, look at these things you have achieved and you'll realise that there's so much you have done and acquired and have to be grateful for. So, my advise to you today, is to pick up the spirit of gratitude and give up the attitude of complaining!!

Complaining always come with regret, it fills the mind bitterness on why some things didn't worked out or pushing the regret on things you are expecting but has refused to come. This tend to occupy the heart for a long while and depression follows. But gratitude said it all, "I can't come and kill myself". You'll just live life and waiting on miracles

I think lack of contentment is thajor cause of chaos and anarchy in our world today... If everyone can just be happy with what they have instead of stressing too much, I believe, there would be no need for ceaseless violent competition
