Gender equality

Gender is a wide spectrum with infinite possibilities. Gender equality is about being free to define your own gender identity and having that identity be respected by others. The best way to support gender equality is to acknowledge that you can’t assume someone’s gender.

Gender is a spectrum, not two boxes

People don’t always present or identify their genders in the binary boxes of “male” or “female”; people express their gender in a way that’s right for them. If a person doesn’t identify as male or female, then you can support them by using the pronouns they prefer. Some people use the pronouns “they” or “them”, others might want to be referred to as “hey” or “zhe”. It might feel a bit unusual at first, but if you respect that person’s preferences, they will appreciate it more than you know.

Gender equality is not a women's issue, it is a human rights issue.

Men are also harmed by a sexist society. Gender equality is everyone's responsibility: men and women alike.

That is why we have developed a gender equality and diversity programme at Life. We have put together an action plan and made guidelines for how we will advance our discrimination prevention work in the coming years.

The first guideline focuses on our own recruitment process and includes the following:

Allow flexibility in work hours and work locations.

Allow employees to work part-time.

End all pay differences between men and women, except for when there is merit in the form of experience and education.

Transgender, genderqueer and gender non-conforming people are those whose psychological self (the inner perception of oneself as male, female or a different gender) does not match the sex assigned to them at birth.

There’s been an enormous amount of attention paid to this topic in recent years, yet a great deal of misunderstanding still abounds. Life wants to help change that.

Gender equality is a hot topic and one that affects us all. Our product, Life, is addressing this issue head on as we build toward a better future.

The idea behind Life is simple: to help people with their personal finances. The U.S. is ranked #29 in gender equality, with men making on average $0.17 for every $1 women make.

There should be gender equality, we all should all be able to make money, it can also impact the economy at large. As more people become aware of the gender pay gap and correct for it, we’ll see less income inequality and hopefully fewer women struggling financially.

For the daughters of all women. My first step is awareness. I am aware that I have been socialized into a set of beliefs that have led me to benefit from the oppression of women and that I carry those beliefs with me wherever I go. Men who are aware of gender inequality are allies in the fight for gender equality.
