Conscience is defined as a mental awareness or knowledge of one's failure to meet a moral standard. We may not know exactly what our moral standards are but we know when we have failed them. That is why it could be said that conscience is an innate sense of right and wrong that all people have developed in varying degrees.

It is an ability or power of the mind that makes one aware, in a general way, whether their actions are right or wrong, and, if they are wrong, their ability to abstain from doing them.

Conscience is the perception of correctness or wrongness of one's own actions and thoughts.

Conscience is often defined as a judgment of oneself, but analysis of its different functions demonstrates that it is several different mechanisms which may not be related to each other.

Conscience. The thing that tells you not to cut in line, or steal a parking spot when you see one opening up further down the row. The thing that tells you not to take a bigger slice of cake than you deserve.

Conscience is a good thing. Having a conscience means feeling guilt when you’ve done something bad. Having no conscience means being totally amoral – a sociopath. A good conscience is built up of two things: being aware of your actions, and having empathy for the people or the animals you’ve affected.

Think of it this way: if you were forced to do something that you knew was wrong, would you be able to sleep at night?

Like many other things, God gives us a conscience for a reason – so we can tell right from wrong. We should not disregard our conscience for the sake of money or prestige.

One of the most harmful feelings is the feeling of shame. Shame does not allow us to live with ourselves, but conscience does. If we have a good conscience, we will be able to look into a mirror and not feel burdened by guilt.

A good conscience depends on us and our actions. If you do something wrong, don't try to make excuses for it, realize what's wrong and try to do better next time. Everyone makes mistakes and that's OK, as long as you admit them and learn from them.

Shame should be replaced with a sense of responsibility and by recognizing your mistakes and doing everything you can to fix them.

Certain things can also help you have a good conscience:

1) Do everything you can to acquire knowledge because knowledge is power.

2) Do what is right always even if it's difficult or hard. It will be worth it.

3) Don't let yourself succumb to fear or intimidation. Fear can stop us in our tracks, but courage will motivate us to press on.

A good conscience is the foundation of a solid life because it gives you inner peace and confidence in yourself. When you have these two things, they will guide you towards living the best possible life for yourself and those around you.

The reason why we often do not feel good when we do something wrong is because of a guilty conscience. Conscience may serve to deter one from certain actions through moral or religious conviction; however, the same mechanisms may also be engaged in order to justify why one did not act in way that would be expected.

The phrase "voice of conscience" is sometimes used to denote the inner monologue that narrates a person's thoughts, particularly when trying to make a moral decision.

The voice of conscience is an application of the broader phenomenon known as introspection, or turning attention within.

A good conscience is a great blessing. And if you have one don't trade it for a great career.

You must never neglect your conscience when choosing a job or profession. If a profession is not compatible with your conscience, do not try to force yourself to go into it.

There are some people who are willing to sell their soul for money, and they think nothing of it. To them, it is a small price to pay for the luxury and riches the world has to offer.

They may be able to enjoy some temporary pleasures by selling off their conscience, but they are usually miserable on the inside and heavy-hearted.
