One underrated way to boost your productivity

If you have been struggling to stay productive, it could be for this one reason that not so many people are paying attention to. Well, why would anyone pay so much attention to something that's supposed to be harmless?

Just like me, you might have read tons of content on how to boost your engagement on social media. They said you should also try to engage your audience in the comment section, and as soon as possible. That made sense to you so each pop from this blue app gets your attention. No, I'm not about to counter that with facts I don't have in fact we are in that boat together.

Carving a niche for yourself and creating content consistently on your niche while targeting your ideal audience helps you to build authority. As such, your DM has become a platform for q and a. The more you help people to solve their problems by answering their questions, the more your klt (know like and trust) factor becomes stronger. Of course, that's the plan, so no question goes unanswered.

There's always time for everything but somehow game time is not always strictly adhered to. Not when you're been reminded of what you stand to lose for missing a day. This might not apply to you but trust me, some people are very intentional with their games.

There's always this unplanned haphazard movement of your thumb, in most cases, on your phone from app to app, site to site, messages to messages, links to links, and so on. It makes sense to check Instagram stories you always look forward to, click on a link for a new job opportunity, or to just simply confirm a payment. What you are not paying attention to is how much of your productive time is stolen while doing those seemingly harmless tasks.

One of the reasons for not being productive is the lack of discipline to prioritize. Honestly, I agree that setting priorities can suddenly become difficult especially when you get an endless pop of attention-stealing notifications coupled with the fear of missing out.

Do you realize that even after waking up with so much energy to make sure all the activities on your to-do list for the day get checked, it only takes one notification and one innocent click to ruin it all? Before you know it, you have gone from a WhatsApp status to a few clicks and scrolling on Facebook, to watching a video on youtube, visiting a site, reading a mail, and landing on a telegram channel then going back to WhatsApp to type omo, its four pm now now, thirty minutes is the new twenty four hours. I need seventy two hours in a day. Can't we just be able to buy time like it was done in the movie in time?

If only you can just avoid being cut up with tasks stealing your time easily, by simply turning off your notifications before you turn on your data in the morning. How long to turn it off is a personal decision as only you will be able to tell when you're ready to get swamped in notifications. Doing this will help you stay focused on your tasks for the day and also give you more time to relax.

Some studies have revealed that it takes twenty three minutes to recover from a distraction. How many times do you get distracted in a day just by leaving your notifications on? ten, twenty, fifty times or more? Do the maths.

If you want to boost your productivity, please turn off the notifications of some of your apps. If you fear that some people such as your audience, friends, or customers will not be able to reach you then you might want to consider informing them about your decision. A few texts like the one below could do the trick.

"I have discovered that I am more productive by xyz time and I have decided that during this time, I will turn off notifications on some of my apps so I can make the most of it. This is also a way of staying focused and serving you better, thank you."

It will not take so long for people to adjust and if you stay true to your words and actions, they will help you to spread the word. Something like this You don't want to send a message to Chika at this time, I'm sure she's reading, will start flying around.

And there you go, boosting your productivity. You will be surprised at how much you can do when you have blocked all the paths that lead to distraction. You will discover that the task is not difficult, you only need to discipline yourself to prioritize.
