It's a new week, new month! Christmas is just around the corner :):) It was a bit nippy this morning. I hung out on the terrace for a while to get some sunshine. Mamo's red peppers are drying so well. They need to be dried more, until they turn purple or dark red. Then it's ready. You can saute and mix them in any dish for the winter. Parang nagta tapa lang hehe para hindi masira :) Late in the afternoon, we had a walk to the centre, lit candles in church and then we did…

Tara, sakay na tayo sa tren! Where is your destination? Do you miss travelling? I took the first photo yesterday, when we went downtown. Some trains are old and funky lols. But it's very comfy inside, lots of space to stretch your legs. A rainy day and foggy in the morning. We couldn't go for a walk. While hubby was busy fixing things at home. I prepare lunch, ang walang kamatayang peppers lols. Fried peppers, then I made a sauce from peppers and tomatoes (mixed together)…
Come on, let's go! Have a walk outside while the sun is shining :)Another foggy morning but it didn't last long. A relaxing day, doing the same old routine. I baked potatoes in the oven for lunch. Can you see Rapunzel's tower? Here you go, it's here!!! It's an abandoned building. I had no idea what it was before. It would be nice if you can build a room on the top floor. You;ll have a magnificent view. The last photo was taken in the store (Kaufland) where they cook fresh…
Spring is back!!! Surprisingly, the weather is fantastic today! We didn't even use our AC, it felt like it was 20 C inside. After lunch, we went for a long walk in the neighbourhood. On the way home we took another route to the meadow. What a huge space out there, surrounded by the mountains. It's been a long time since we walked there. It felt so good. I should be more active physically, we played basketball a bit. Then I climbed another apple tree :) These apples are my…
Mamo's distant relative calls her now and then. She has slight dementia but still remembers Mamo's number. She would ask my mom in law for everything, doctor's consultation, books, brandy recipe lols you name it. Now and then, we bring her stuff that she needs. Whenever we go downtown we would stop and chat with her through her window and she would tell her life stories. Her name is Baba Victoria. The other day she called at home, asking if we could pick a loaf of bread from…
It's Caturday Meow, meow, meow! These are Bimba and her daughter, Mia. Bimba is maybe 11 years old, Mamo thought she wouldn't have any babies anymore. But 3 years ago, Bimba surprised us with 2 babie, Mia and Mica. Bimba is bossy and snob, I call her the queen in the house but when it comes to her children. she is very compassionate and caring. Mother will always be a mother, no matter what :):) I was planning since last week to bake apple strudel or appelflap but I ended up…
Let's jump, jump! Eyahhh! We are lucky to have nice sunny weather this week. These photos were taken this afternoon during our afternoon walk. It's a lovely feeling when you can breathe fresh air and enjoy nature. The beauty of autumn... We waited a bit until the sun went down and walked around the neighborhood. I saw the smallest apple tree today. Hubby says it tastes like a " golden delicious" apple. I don't have to climb this time lols, you can just pick them and also…
Ako si Darna!! I attempted so many jumps yesterday, so here Iam sharing it with you again lols. (wala daw basagin ng trip mga beshie lols ) Convo with hubby: (The same convo last summer) Me: Do you think this pine tree is perfect for a Christmas tree? I want to bring one home. (teasing him) Hubby: No, you can't and it's not allowed. Me: "This one, oh no, this one is beautiful " Pointing on a small pine tree. Hubby: "But you can decorate them here in the forest" Me: bwahahaha…
No jumping photos today, only cabbages lols. I'll give you a tour of the market. It's cabbage season now. They usually make salads or mix them in their dishes. My favourite is "sarmi/sarma" (it's a traditional food- cabbage rolls with rice ) Pickled Cabbages are stored in a big barrel for the winter. Mamo also has a barrel at home. Ang laki ng mga banga nila sa palengke, kaysa ang tao lols We checked a few vendors, one of the sellers let me try some of her pickled…
These are the last leeks that I harvested from the garden. Some herbs are still surviving, not frozen from the cold weather. I cooked macaroni using whatever ingredients I could find outside. We got plenty of tomatoes (stored in the garage) the macaroni wasn't that bad hehhe Our tiles in the bathroom are halfway ready, hubby did really well. Next week, he'll put the floor tiles. Everything is new for us, with no construction experience, he learns from reading and watching…
Shake, shake, shake! Here's another funny adventure today. We planned to go downtown to drink coffee and do some groceries. On the way to the market, we saw lots of apples. Mmmm very tempting. We tasted them first to see if they were worth picking. Oh boy we ended up eating and picking 4- 5 different apple trees. They were so sweet! It's crazy they were just everywhere. You could just shake the branches and they would fall easily. It was fun lols. Nag ala spiderwoman naman…
Wuz up lovely people? At last I made an apple strudel today :) These are the red apples from the forest. I cut them into tiny pieces and then added some walnuts. It turned out good, everyone enjoyed it. Naka tsamba uli natuto den kahit paano hehe Fruit teas are great in the winter. We have plenty of dried berries and apples for the coming months. We are finishing the quince tea (my favorite) and if we run out of fruit tea, we still have some Russian tea that hubby ordered…
A lovely Sunday, cold but sunny. After lunch we had a nice walk downtown and we did some grocery shopping. Mamo also prepared her pickled cabbage. She chose 2- 3 types of cabbages (approx 30 kg ) ; she only added salt and water to keep them longer throughout the winter then stored in a barrel. Look, somebody was enjoying the sunshine in the park, so I came and joined her. She was calm and didn't mind that a crazy lady sat next to her lols Late in the afternoon we went for…
What's on the market today? Here are some vegetables and fruits that they are selling in the local market now. Seasonal fruits/vegetables are affordable. We bought some kaki/persimmon, mmm they are juicy and sweet. Can you guess what kind of vegetables in the second photo are? These are giant ----- 1 piece of this is good enough for 1 dish. The 4th photo is a musmula fruit, tiny, brown and round. It tastes like chico/ sapodilla (rough texture) . This fruit is really new to…
Woof! woof! Aww look at this adorable dog that we saw at the market this afternoon. He was well behaved, just relaxing on the side of the road. He was not bothered at all. Sobrang amo nya at hindi sya gumagalaw asong askal po sya :( :( I wish I could take him, but we have so many cats already at home :( We bought 1 bundle of leeks, Mamo wants to bake bread in the coming days, leeks are perfect for this. How time flies, mid November already. It's getting colder and colder.…
Let's eat! This morning, Mamo and I baked bread, no leeks, just plain bread for lunch. She always makes it perfect :) I sauteed mixed veggies, some salad and that was our lunch today. This is also good with pesto yummy! Late in the afternoon we headed to the market to buy more persimmon fruit. They call it "raiska yabulka" or paradise apple. I like them when they are not so ripe ( a bit crunchy ) They are also selling lots of fruit trees. This time of the year is the best to…
For many years, Mamo used wood for heating the whole house in the winter. This year, we suggested using AC's to make it easier for her. No more chopping woods, no ashes, no dirty kitchen. Even though real firewood is cosy, it's a lot of manual work. Do you know how much wood she used to keep in the garage? Maybe more than 10 cubic meters, so it's like 1 medium truck full of wood. Winter months lang yon minsan pag napahaba ang ang winter kahit April nag snow, minsan ubos na…
Even Though the seasons here are different from Andalucia, we are blessed to have a warm place. Switching from one place to another can be challenging, but we are thankful for every 'lil thing #nomadlife Different climate, different seasons, different traditions and cultures. It's an adventure and fun for me. There are lots of things to learn and to discover. I get excited everytime we go to the local market, to see what's out there. Like these oranges, the taste is not the…
A relaxing day for all of us today, it was cold and windy this morning. In the afternoon we decided to have a short walk. Nothing much in the market, we bought grapes, more persimmons and oranges. The greengrocer said that the grapes had only 1- 2 seeds inside. And she was right. They were sweet and almost seedless. It's a good marketing strategy though lols. We'll buy it again next time :) How are you today? Whenever you feel sad or lonely, think about happy thoughts.…
I'm not sure if I posted these thatched houses before, but I would like to share them with you again. You'll find them in Cotswolds. The first photo is one of the cutest that I've seen so far. It's like a fairy tale house. Thatched houses cost fortunes, I don't know how much but you'll see them in rich areas :) Tuloy po kayo sa bahay ko charoot :) I like small villages, the locals are warm and very friendly. I think my favourite is Blockley. This village has one shop, a…
We were busy almost the whole day working on the bathroom tiles, a lot of cutting and measurements to be done. So far so good. For lunch, I prepared onion soup, I added potatoes and spaghetti . There were apples everywhere on the ground. Too bad this house was abandoned and the gate was closed. I couldn't get in, lol. I shaked the tree, but they fell inside the fence hehe no luck today :) We did a bit of groceries in Lidl. Oh la la, I was so surprised to see Christmas trees.…
I noticed that the chambers are gone. Chambers and Channels can be confusing if you are a new user on the platform. Noise has made a lot of changes in the past few months, can't complain but grateful to Noise. Thank you sis @sashley and @zephalexia for introducing me to this amazing platform. Anyhow, let me take you to this secluded place in Andalucia, with 2,000 people throughout the year. "Dos Manos" (Two Hands) you'll see this at the mall of Islantilla, Centro Comercial.…
While checking mails and replying to noise comments. I had this convo with hubby. Me: "I think I need glasses. I'm getting old" Hubby: "Try to clean your laptop screen you'll see better" A few moments later... Me: "Whoaaaa, it's a miracle! I can see now" hahahaha Sometimes, we worry too much about unnecessary things. But most of the time, the answer is just in front of our nose lols. Rimbie came back home at 1800, he went downtown with his friend. Me: How was your date?…
These are rose hips in front of Mamo's house. They are kinda soft now because of the cold weather. Tsk too bad that we forgot to harvest last summer ( we were waiting for it to get ripe ) Anyway, we have enough at home, they are already dry and we can make tea from them anytime. Our neighbour came this morning to install lights in the bathroom. He is a very nice guy. Ivo's father was Mamo's student. She taught most of the kids in the neighborhood, they are grown up and have…
Do you plan a whole week's meals? Sometimes, it's not easy to think of what to cook every day. Since hubby is busy working around the house, Mamo and I prepare food for everyone. Minsan hindi ko din alam ang lulutuin. Sino nakaka relate mga momshie? Here are more cabbages that they are selling in the market, I never get tired looking and taking photos of them lols. In Lidl they are selling this lovely flower (I don't know the name )and some masks with Christmas designs. I…
One night, I asked hubby if we could buy some crisps, in the 24 hours shop. We were in the queue outside the store. I noticed that these 2 young girls were distressed. I asked them what was going on. #maritess. Girls: "A car is following us" Girls: "The car is coming, right there" Me: "Just pretend that we are together. If something goes wrong and if you are alone, scream, run as fast as you can or kick their b@@% Hubby didn't realise what was happening. So, I told him. He…
Howdy! This afternoon we went downtown to look for a gift. Our son is going to attend a birthday party tomorrow. He chose perfume and chocolates. They have a dress code too (tsk kids these days lols ) Dati nakiki party lang ako noon walang imbita walang regalo lols When we came home, Rimbie studied for a while and curious Tina was trying to learn too. #maritess Mahilig maki esyoso. Sis @sashley ito na si madam Tina oh hehehe I hope these Christmas trees and flowers bring a…
Today, I'll be sharing something different. I hope you find it interesting. Last summer, I visited a wonderful couple in Tewkesbury, they have a pottery shop that is kinda known in Cotswolds. Toff, an amazing potter, the Jack of all trade. While I was there, I had a chance to see his magnificent work. He made a couple of mini vases and showed me how it was done. They have a spacious showroom, where all of his marvellous creations were displayed. Last Christmas, they gave me…
Hiya! How is everyone? Free Tips are back!! Happy #caturday! This is our friend, Laura and "Nieve" (meaning snow ) Rimbie and Laura found this kitten wandering around, in our complex. We thought she was just lost. Every morning, Nieve would appear. We wanted to keep Nieve, but because we couldn't have pets at that time, (#nomadlife) and Laura already had a cat at home. Laura and Rimbie were able to convince our neighbour to adopt Nieve. We were lucky that our neighbour was a…
Before I go to bed, I would like to share some sunset photos. Tomorrow is Sunday, I hope we can all chillax and spend some time with your loved ones. Don't let any negativity ruin your day, try to keep it in balance, to divide your time and to have "me" time #noteteself Stay strong whatever you are going through right now, HE is our rock and our strength. He will make a way for all of us. Tomorrow is a brand new day, wake up with a grateful heart and keep counting your…
Wuz up lovely people? It was a nice day, my sis in law visited us. Hubby and I cooked lunch for everyone. It was good to see each other again. We haven't seen her for 3 weeks, she was also busy renovating her own apartment in the city. Time flies, it's been almost a year since we left this paradise :) So many good memories to remember. Hopefully, someday we can go visit again when things go back to normal. You can sunbathe anytime lols when you live in a sunny country and…
Do you want to see something creepy, magical or maybe mysterious? What thoughts come to your mind when you see an abandoned house? Haunted? Would you go and explore them? No??? What if somebody pays you to go inside? Would you try? One of these houses cost 2,500 euro what you see is what you get and you can do whatever you want. It's pretty cheap right? Can you guess which one it is? If you are given a chance to renovate one of these houses, which one would you choose? These…
Good evening everyone. How is the weather in your area? It was raining the whole day and we couldn't go outside. Hubby did a lot of work at home, still working in the bathroom. Rimbie and I fixed his room, did some cleaning in the house. Tsk there is always something to do when you are inside lols Watching news nowadays is kinda stressful. It's not healthy mentally and emotionally. Try to skip it for a few days. Sometimes, we have to switch the channel and refocus on…
No matter how dark your surroundings is Kneel down and pray... Good night…
I woke up like this lol. What a thick snow today!! Let it snow, let it snow! Brrr it -3 C when I looked on the weather app, all white and beautiful outside. Am I walking on the clouds? Yup but under my feet :):) The crunchy crisp sounds of the snow are satisfying:) I needed some fresh parsley for our mandja so I went and dug under the snow. They are still good. And here is my first selfie of the year lols. Pagbigyan nyo na lola nyo minsan lang to nyahahaha Our neighbor's dog…
It's the first of December! Christmas is not the same as it was in previous years. Some of us have been through a rough road but by His grace and mercy, we are still here, stronger and getting better. It's -6 C now, cold outside but we are warm inside, our ac is really working well. #grateful And before I go to bed, I'll leave you some more snowy photos. Hug somebody today if you are feeling cold :) Isama natin ang mga nega #maritess natin sa buhay nyahaha I'll see you again…
