Today, I am bringing you one very interesting and at the same time very scary story about human being. Human beings who wanted to do big things, human beings who truly loved each other, human beings who sacrificed themselves for others.

I will write abour Vladimir Komarov, Russian cosmonaut, who was the first man ever who died in space.

Vladimir Komarov in Soviet Uniform

There is a whole book about this man and his last mission, where he lost his life, written by Jammy Doran and Pirs Byzony. In this book you can read a lot about this happening and things that were leading to it.

Now, I will write one short story about this man, and if you are interested into it, you can find that book and find out mora about Vladimir.

This man was very good pilot and he was really very competent for a lot of things, and that is maybe the main reason why he was the only cosmonaut who was sent to the space twice.

Vladimir Komarov in red uniform of Soviet cosmonauts

His first trip to the space was successful and he was a hero of Soviet Union. For the second trip he was chosen between him and Yuri Gagarin. Thos etwo cosmonauts were close friends and each of them wanted to fly in this mission, because thery both know that spacehip Soyuz 1 was not safe for flying.

Komarov was the one who was chosen and he accepted this because he knew that if he reject, Yuri will be the one who will fly. Yuri wanted to fly instead of Komarov, because he checked the ship and he noticed that there are 203 problems on the ship.

Yuri Gagarin and Vladimir Komarov

You are maybe wondering why did they send the ship with 203 problems to the space. It was 1967 and that year Soviets were celebrating 50 years of the Great Soviet revolution and they wanted to celebrate it. They planed to send two spaceships to the space, they were supposed to meet each other up there, on one of them Komarov was supposed to be alone, and there were supposed to be two cosmonauts on the other one. They should meet there, and Komarov was supposed to change places with one of the cosmonauts on the other ship, and to land on the Earth.

That had to be great Soviet victory in space and predsident of Soviet Union Leonid Brezhnev did not want to give up on that. All around of him knew how much he wanted that and because of that nobody dare to tell him that Soyuz 1 is not safe for flying.

Yuri Gagaring has written a report and tried to send it to Brezhnev, but it never got to him and Komarov has left the Earth in it, knowing that he will not get back to the Earth alive.

Soyuz 1 after falling on the Earth

Before this trip Komarov said "I cannot reject this. If I reject it, they will send the substitute pilot and that is Yuri. I cannot let that happen. We have to take care of him.".

Soyuz 1 still burning after it fell

This spaceship was sent into the orbit on 23rd of April in 1967 with Vladimir Komarov in it. After the Soyuz 1 was launched into the orbit the realized that everything is wrong with it and they gave up on launching Soyuz 2, and they gave up on all the show that they wanted in space.

Also there are some audio recordings, but connection was not very good and because of that we cannot be sure what Komarov is saying to cosnonauts that are on the Earth. But, people, who were there and who heard him later said that all of them were crying and that he was crying and screaming while his ship was falling back to the Earth. Also, some of them told that he was railing everyone except his wife and Yuri. And, we can understand that, because all of them, who were there except Yuri and his wife were guilty for what was happening to him.

Now, let's move to the main part, as I said the spaceship was not good and was not safe. Nothing on that ships was working properly, almost every part of it had some problem. Even catapult and parachutes were not working and that was one of the main reasons why he could not survive. He had no chance.

Helicopter with other Cosmonauts landing next to the Soyuz 1

At one moment whole ship began to fall because the fuel tank was empty, he could not get out of it, actually he could get out, but he had a choice between getting out of spaceship in the middle of the space or to stay in his ship and be burned to death, actually not burned, melted.

The temperature in the ship became so high at one point that his body, his uniform and everything else in that ship started to melt. He was in extremely pain. the only 'good' thing, if we can even call that good is that it did not last long. He was not in pain for a long time.

This is one more example how big countries are sacrificing their best people in order to be good, to be the best, the strongest...

Remains of Vladimir Komarov

One year later, in 1968 Yuri Gagarin died in a plane accident, and that would look like an accident, but if we did not know that he was very angry and that he attacked many peoople because of his friend Vladimir, who was sent to the death. He even asked Leonid Breznev for explanation, and some people told that he even spilled a drink into his face. Now, when we know that, should we believe that he really died into an accident?

I will not give answer to that question, I will leave you to make your own opinion about that.

What I would love to say for the end is that Vladimir Komarov was real hero, he was not only good cosmonaut he was also making ships, he was giving instructions to other cosmonauts and helping them with his experiences from space.

My opinion is that people should never be sacrificed like Komarov.

I guess that you agree with me.
